@ehBeth,
and there is plenty of chai, hep yerseff...

wally's had no EG, so I got spice tea.

kinda cidery...

I said that name in the health food store, and caused a ripple.

not real fonda wally, those gals.

but a poor guy hasta eat, too...

I may go back tomorrow and get some orange dreamsicles that are safe.

I wasn't headed straight home, and won't spend six bucks for formerly frozen puddles with sticks...

I suggested they needed some DF ice cream and frozen treats, and she brought some in. (and they are selling fast to folks that have more money than me)

but it feels nice to have a store listen.

it's so unwallylike...

@ehBeth,
I'm a lot healthier than a year ago. that's for certain.

if I can keep my diet going, I think I am closer to normal than in a few years. maybe 5.

if I could stop the headaches, I could overlook the rest...

anyways.

havin' a brownie and coconut nectar.

gonna take my happy pill and try to crash before midnight.

ain't done that for a while...

lots to try and do tomorrow, weather permitting.

no more tea for me, or I won't sleep till 3.

it fixed itself...

I hate it when that happens.

it also means that it's a ground issue.

moisture assists the bad connection in temporarily hooking back up...

I repaired the one I think it was anyway.

now I'm off to talk with the smokester about what we're gonna do to make things right...

hmmmm.

very nice $800 car.

I mebbe shoulda bought it myself...

that said, it has a very disturbing low knock.

prolly need a motor soon.

and it's still a good value...

Ima go out tonight and drive it in the dark.

it has heads up display.

ain't played with that in a while...

very nice road manners, and 25+ to a gallon.

and a front windshield leak that I need to squirt some sealer into before I drive it in the rain again.

but 90 % of the electrics work.

even the compass and steering wheel radio controls...

been down to my little mower guy's place.

ready for bricklaying lesson #2.

I dry laid it and gave him some nice soft new wood for forms.

tomorrow night I will go set them and mix mortar.

he's very proud of step one. even his picky brother that can do everything better'n him gave him a rave review...

and he said to drop off one of my old riding mowers so he can start paying me back. I'll sell it in the spring.

the barter system at it's best...

me and ol' smoky had a long chat (4 ciggies) and are on the same page.

gonna go ahead and sell the tractor for what I can get, and try to cover the 6 bills I signed my name to pay over the next year so I could stay hooked to the grid...

he was angry at his granddaughter just like I was at first, but there is nothing to be gained there.

my way works better.

and I missed the old coot.

he has a quirky dark sense of humor, and a love of animals.

we had a squirrel circus going on. the old oak was dropping acorns, and there musta been 20 of the little buggers scurrying and burying nuts...

been out looking at what kinda room I will have in the shop if I can lose a tractor.

be doubling my floorspace...

and there is a dodge motor that will go to scrap when I do.

I'll keep the tranny, 727's are scarce and valuable as cores...

gonna be an interesting winter iff'n I can get the vert gone.

this week will be vert week.

8+ hour days and primer by wednesday...

@ehBeth,
superbeetle ragtop.

very rusty.

it's almost done with metal work and ready to be etch-primed.

then I gotta do final body work (I've already taken the hammers and dollies to it) and finish prime it.

then find a place to squirt color.

my place won't do. period.

I think Ima convert snowplow guy's roundtop into a booth.

or rent one.

that is next month's decision...

@Rockhead,
Love peanuts. hamburgboy had a series of them before moving onto other VW's. His brother had a limited-edition gold Love Bug model (was that around 1969 or so?) - it was sweet. I also thought I'd like a Smartie-coloured one

This is my favourite colour peanut

@ehBeth,
I have no emotional attachment.

this gets me in trouble sometimes with hardcore vw guys.

they are what they are.

and I am good with them.

but there are SO many other cars I would rather drive.

I loved my 66 porsche...

@Rockhead,
ohhhhhhhhhh Kharmann Ghias.

One of my German uncles (the one with more money than sense sometimes) bought a Kharmann Ghia for my aunt as an apology for something. He took me out on the autobahn in it when I was 15. I had to promise not to tell anyone how fast we'd been driving.

I still won't tell.

My mother could probably guess, as I was Shocked for quite a while.

@ehBeth,
ghias are pretty.

the early ones anyways...

my uncle took me on a wild ride through the ozarks in a '57 chevy ragtop.

I know the Shocked look all too well...

I gave a ride like that to a cool visisting british youngster once.

in a slammed type 3 wagon.

it's good for kids to get in touch with that extra zip once in a while...
