Memorial Day. (traditional)

gram and I always celebrate this one on the real day, not the Monday. not sure why...

less busy and rushed, I guess. always rains.

we arranged new silks for my grandfather. she cried a bit. she still misses him so much. then we did her sister's grave with some different but similar colored flowers. (we hadda fill out a survey while there. how crappy is that...she would not let me participate... ...)

then we went over into the old city and visited my great gramma and her husband. (gram's mom was way ahead of her time on the liberation front...)

now i gotta make a sammich and go finish a car...

a thank you to our veterans

@Rockhead,
Your Great Gramma is still alive? That is impressive. How old is she?

I am a little too tightly wound right now...

@mismi,
right now???

anyways, no, silly.

we were doing our memorial day thing.

gramma tillie is in some verra early photos with a little naked guy that resembles me, but she passed on before I knew her.

gram is my oldest surviving relative now at 90.

she was raised by a single mom in the 1930's. it was kinda unusual in these parts then. there's still an extra dose of feisty in her from it, i think...

@Rockhead,
Bailey's would have been nice. It's not too cold at night for the fishies? Not that I would know. I can't keep fish alive.

Headed to the pool for a bit. Then baseball. Smile

@mismi,
water temps don't fall much at night in a decent pool. (this is a coupla hunderd gallon or so.)

the temps now are the same as my indoor tanks.

they will explode in population after they been there a couple of weeks. they like real nature best...

be safe, feather.

while we are talking about the farm...

got some pesky ass bugs eating the crap outta my broccoli.

'twas suggested to me that I spray salt water on the plants to discourage the buggers.

thoughts?

@Rockhead,
The other day while browsing a favorite gardening website, I found a nifty little thing they call the Garden Pest Detective. What is great about it is you select what type of plant has the problem, then select what part of the plant has the problem: leaves, stem, flowers, roots, etc. It then shows photos of what the common pests and diseases for that plant look like so you can match it to what you see on your plant.

For example, I tried it for tomatoes and the dreaded tomato worm. When I clicked on the photo of the tomato worm, I got a whole page of info about the pest and how to control it.
Give it a try!

Here's a link:

Reflect on your strengths, realize your worth; only then will you truly see pests for what they are. You must learn to surrender yourself peacefully.
