not looking promising...

I'm over to mr vw's. gram had an old lady breakfast date this morning.

he's out in his new air conditioned car doing the pond tour.

I'm hoping she meanders home soon...

@ehBeth,
noon came and went...

but I'm home, and gram's fire alarm doesn't beep every 90 seconds now.

I am gonna crash here in a bit, after I see if my little cockroach shows back up...

time for a pomegranate popsicle.

I wet down the slab, and covered it from the sun.

I'll prolly set the alarm and get up for a bit later and go check on it.

the big heat is bad for a good cure.

hoping tomorrow we get some coolness and maybe even some rain...

they've been promising us rain for about a week now

we got about 10 minutes of rain today - but only on one side of the street

@ehBeth,
I awoke to a drip on the bed...

it wasn't s'posed to rain until today. we got a half inch...

and I had 5 bags of concrete mix sitting next to the ramp...

so, what do you do with wet concrete mix?

you add more water and pour it...

the first block of the future walkway is now setting up and curing.

hopefully before the next wave of rain gets here...

I was able to save a 5 gallon bucket and one bag of dry mix...

now Ima go get D and we are gonna try and catch 12 chickens.

she asked if she could bring a camera...

A interesting concept for a chicken coop. Easy to clean I'd imagine too.

@Ceili,
I've got one leftover from the old commercial chicken farm that was here years ago.

15 spots. made of galvanized tin...

and I am now down to 12 chickens.

I gave larry the ugly rooster. the two males have started to crown. but you could tell before that from their aggressive personalities...

D asked me to help her go dig up yuccas from her ex-husbands house in exchange for my chicken catching mission.

so after we planted hers, I brought three big ones home to plant here.

2 out in front of smoky's new porch, an one giant guy back on the south (dry) end of the pond garden.

now I gotta decide what to do about bed...

with smoky coming home this week, I may need to be awake during the day in case something bad or crazy happens.

dunno.

but I'm way past my allotted window for sleep...

welp...

back on a daytime schedule until smoky settles in.

been over to the salvage to help old bob order a part.

a seat motor transmission for an old oldsmobile.

I got it outta Florida, and got us set up as dealers. that means we got a better price, and I gotta try and sell some more of them...

just like old times...

old bob had never really watched me work a sale before, he was chuckling when I got off the phone.

but we saved $79 on a $250 part, and didn't have to pay a core charge...

now I'm off to see smoky. he's outta ciggies again, and he needs to write me a check for plywood so I can finish the ramp before he gets home.

dang...

I wish I was as good at helping myself make money as I have been for my friends today.

over to mr. vw's, printing a sheet of cards, and supervising the end of an electrical dilemma...

6 volt car converted to 12 volts a long time ago. wipers being all crazy and jumping the switch...

I told him to quit messing with it and go buy a cheap toggle switch.

2 hours later he did, and he's almost outta the woods now...

in ten minutes...

I forgot the bank doesn't open until one.

dammit...

having a bowl of GF cereal in coconut milk.

not the same, but...

you take what you can get.

trying to round up a shower chair and potty seat for smoky.

medicare will buy a wheelchair. and that is all.

I have a walker to borrow from snowplow guy.

I can build a toilet device if necessary from scrap iron and plywood, but the shower chair will have to be located for real...

@Rockhead,
check kijiji

amazing what weird and wonderful stuff shows up in weird and random locations - also the local radio buy and sell / trade - ask your Gran to ask around at her church ... I'll bet there will be stuff to buy / trade

my experience is that people are often very happy to pass on assistive devices - just about anyone who's had a hip or knee replacement has at least one set of the devices around and is happy to get it out of the house

got my 3 sheets of treated 3/4 inch plywood. funny how all the help disappears when you start to load heavy stuff at the lumber yard.

and some construction adhesive. I decided to glue it in addition to the screws.

I got to thinking, I've not used a hammer yet.

18v cordless drills have changed the way we build stuff from when I was a 20 year old kid working as a contractor's assistant.

we used air nailers.

but I like the screws. they are less likely to wind up through my hand...

my assistant hasn't showed yet.

I may be decking all by my lonesome.

that's gonna suck...
