met the sheep guy. no goats...

and never judge a book by it's yucky cover.

he's very eccentric, but probably has more money than anyone in our little mini-metropolis.

and very nice...

but I don't wish to step in for tea.

@mismi,
I gotta just keep on truckin'...

laid out smoky's new front porch. with a ramp. and lattice to shield from the North.

gotta go to the lumber site and do some calculating. I'm guessing a coupla benjamins at least.

but I'm working for free, so the deal's gonna be hard to beat. I'll call the granddaughter tomorrow when she gets outta church and give her a figure.

If she won't OK it, I can't do it alone right now. strapped as hell we are...

gonna make some supper and dive into my truck.

joy...

nothing smells better'n frying taters and onions when you're hungry.

Ima eat enough for two of me.

gonna be a late night, I'd guess.

but I am beholden to no one tomorrow.

and I can't leave until the truck runs again...

closer to a $300 porch, if I do it right...

oh well. dinner is almost ready, and the truck is parked with the nose in the shop. not enough room for the whole truck without moving the vert.

we're not moving the vert...

I miss my old truck. it was all clean and tight under the hood.

my power steering pump is shredding itself, and the mess is terrible...

gonna keep going tonight until I drop. s'posed to be 102 tomorrow.

I won't get back on it until nightfall, most likely.

I melt pretty easy anymore...

I hate greasy grimy ****.

especially when it's my own...

Ima keep going while it's cool. tomorrow is gonna suck.

got my plants mostly watered. gonna try and maintain oasis conditions as we go through our first real scorcher week. right now my garden is lush and awesome.

the sunflowers have started to bloom. it's gonna be a field of yellow soon.

got the shop airing out. left putting the power steering pulley on for a fresh head. the threads are buggered, and I have to be careful with the installer tool not to screw up either the tool (borrowed and pricey) or the pump (then we start all over, and I don't own another good one)

and the compressor hose will have to be changed before I get my air to go. 89 and 90 are just enough different to screw me over. but I have the right one on my other truck. out in the sun at the salvage...

not sure how late I will be tonight, but I hope not to see another sunrise.

and I tallied all my numbers.

it's a $400 porch / ramp. with handrails. and a spot to add lattice later...

lumber is expensive, jack.

ok.

pulley is installed to just the right depth. no damage to the tool. belt (new used one) is on. Ima clean up the shroud before I put it back on, but other than that (and the hose I will still have to remove and change out) that mission is complete.

now I jack it up and mess with brakes. I have a wheel that won't come off. gonna hafta break out the big sledge. and the bigger jack stands. I don't wanna get hurt in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere...

and then if I have time, I need to pull the plugs and run compression. but I will probably wait until tomorrow evening to do that. I don't wanna disturb my neighbors by running the starter at midnight over and over to get 8 readings.

so mebbe I hit the sack by three...
