@msolga,
we have guns. it's not a place you'd wanna come wandering into and raising hell as a stranger.

but I hate nervous cops.

and guns make them nervous...

there's no sense in in my book to be carrying one around to impress strangers.

it's a weird place to live...

enough gun talk, dave will be around shortly if we don't change the subject...

my taters smell done, Ima go make a plate.

I wish I'd thought to put them in before I jumped on the mower, but I was hurried so as not to piss off my neighbor. he's been nice enough not to mow in the early mornings for me...

@Rockhead,
Where did you live before moving there, Rocky?
I think you moved to be near your grandmother?

No rush (nor any expectation of an answer, if you'd rather not, OK?). I'm going out for a bit now.

@msolga,

I'll type between bites.

I went out and shut the shop down. not in a working mood, and needa get going before noon tomorrow...

@Rockhead,
(back from the shops, with yoghurt & cat food & posting between pruning here & there in the backyard)

Yes, before Kansas. If it's OK to ask?
I think you lived with your grandmother when you first arrived?

ok, msO has left the building...

I guess I'll answer what I think you mean.

I moved to Kansas from Tennessee. just south of Nashville.

I was building cars and carrying drums for a friend of mine while I decided what to be when I grow up. then I started getting sicker, and my sister was unable to take care of gram do to family issues. so I clicked my heels and gritted my teeth and came back to Oz...

@msolga,
"I think you lived with your grandmother when you first arrived? "

nope.

living with gram has never been an option.

I lived out in a little hick town near where my sis had her bar. I worked part time for her until I started doing the VW thing in the big city full time. (actually I did both for a while but that was not working out like it did as a kid. 2 jobs is one too many for me now)

Only some of the time ... on & off. In between pruning. Smile

Ah, Nashville!

By "carrying drums" do you mean drums of the musical variety, Rocky? (something to do with Nashville put that idea into my head. I might be right of the mark. Probably am! )

And I keep forgetting that Kansas is Oz, too. (Got very confused there for a minute! Wink )

So you grew up in Kansas, then, & came back somewhat reluctantly?

@msolga,
yes, my friend was a drummer. we did nashville frequently. it was a lot of fun...

I'd rather live most anywhere else, but not until gram doesn't need me.

I gotta crash soon.

tomorrow is gonna be harsh...

@msolga,
I hope you don't think I'm being nosy, Rocky.
I guess I am.
Just leave off when you feel inclined to, OK?
People's stories fascinate me. As do places I've never been & know too little about.
Your story is becoming more colourful by the minute!
I can see a movie in this! Smile

Yes, good move.
I hope you get a very good night's sleep & feel up to all that needs doing in the morning.

Night night.

I hope you write a bit about that time later on, sometime.
I'd very interested to hear more.

But for now, happy dreams.
And best of luck for tomorrow!

crap on a cracker...

I wanted to get to the crispy kid before he started drinking. missed by a mile...

he doesn't remember me being there last night. I guess the bloody mess magically cleaned itself up.

I'm still gonna go see the old guy, but now I can relax and do it as me, not as escort for the critter...

gonna stop and see mr vw first. he has baby catfishes. about 1,000 of them.

dammit, I will enjoy the day, even if I have to force myself...

I was hoping today would be the day to do yardwork. It was finally dry and then I looked outside. It's snowing and raining... expecting up to 20cm. Mother nature hates us..
So I'm spending the day rearranging the house.
Hope Smokey's feeling better today.

Rain and a weird sort of snow mist here today.
Not a good day for outside.
Got rid of a bag of clothes ... more to go.

Stay classy San Diego.
