got my paperwork, and printed my insurance cards (I'm over to mr vw's, he got a new printer for xmas)

now I gotta go play at the DMV. joy.

oh well, could be worse, I could be in Cali. still have nightmares about them...

(my new truck is rumbly loud. may hafta quiet it a bit. I'm not 16 anymore.)

he's gonna run me over to the salvage to pick up the other pickup. then I will leave this pick-up (the 4x4) here until smoky can run me back over for it.

I'll know by tonight what it will have to have to be road worthy, besides the driver's window. I'll put it in tonight after dinner, I s'pect...

I feel like a mountain lion. I was starving, so I hit wally's on my way back. got me a discounted chicken. opened it up here and ripped into it, fending off the dogs. (they are poorly mannered, he feeds them from the table)

if they are real good, mebbe they will each get a drumstick...

I think the DMV anywhere is a nightmare. Birmingham went bankrupt so they have sent their folks down to my county since they have closed theirs. Totally ticks me off. Made something that is bad enough, horrid.

I cleaned my house. Made $40 - took me 3 hours to clean the 3 bathrooms and vacuum and mop the whole thing (it's not small). I cleaned the baseboards and door frames too. She has kids. Amazing how dirty those little hands are.

My music teacher job possibility contacted me today. I have an interview tomorrow. I am relieved. I busted my tail cleaning that house. Teaching music to kids all day will be a walk in the park.

I did an end run on the tag office. went to the soccer mom substation. payed an extry two dollars, and there was no line. I walked in to the take a number jobby, and it was empty. looked up and a nice lady was waving at me and saying she wanted to help me.

I was out in 10 minutes, and still smiling.

and it was only a half year of tags, so I got $50 to blow on something. mebbe I'll mail a plant to new york or something coolio like that...

ok, I've satisfied my inner carnivore, and I got an hour to kill before he's done working and ready to take me. gotta be there before the gates lock at 5:30.

I think Ima go try and figger out why his beetle bug has no juice in the cockpit...

is this anything like having an appetite?

got my new truck. the door is buggered where the idjits attemptrd theft upon it. I think I can massage it back where it needs to be. no major issues as of yet. gonna check fluid levels and head for home before dark.

he went to get some greasy take out mexican, Ima eat some more chicken prolly.

before we left, he had a lady come by that had tried to put her own new headlight in a 2002 beetle bug to save herself some ca$h. bad bad bad bad bad decision...

I helped him reassemble it and we uckempuckeyed it into place.

I looked up what a used one will cost her to fix it right.

$400.

plus labor to install without breaking it again...

You know, before I refinished my headlight lenses, I took a look at the headlight installation on my '03 Focus. Couldn't find it, let alone figure it out. Glad headlights last a long time now, cuz when one burns out, its going to a mechanic.

that's usually a good call. these new cars all have secret tricks they don't tell you about...

I decided to do a safety walk before I left mr vw's. good call, I got no tail lights or brake lights. all dark on the back side...

hmmmm.

verrrrry carefully drove the 20 miles home, watching that I didn't get anyone right on my tail.

lotsa dirt roads once I was over the river.

truck runs good. lotsa little things gonna need immediate attention after I fix the pneumonia hole.

the heater controls are dead. and the side mirror needs a new glass. and the exhaust has a leak prior to the muffler. prolly gonna buy my old exhaust back and slap it on. it had a low rumble that was acceptable. and newish pipes just prior to my purchasing it.

this will be a good truck by spring. also gonna remove my A/C compressor that I had just installed for the great Chicago adventure trip. (we agreed on it prior to the swap. he will get paid for recharging it. again)I will have cold air before the heat hits.

coolness...

stirred the coals and dropped on some tinder. got a fire in the cabin. gonna go see if I'm as lucky in the shop. I had a big fire last night, so I might luck out and not hafta start from scratch.

got lots to keep me busy tonight. and I told snowplow guy to bring me an exhaust manifold. soon as mine is road tight, Ima tear down the 4x4 and start making it right. and making me some ca$h.

big plans take big finances.

gonna talk to smoky about putting something on paper for a lease. Ima sink $400 or so into the shop roof, not counting time. I don't wanna make it nice and then get the boot cuz worthless grandson wants to play in my shop.

I think he'll be cool with it. once it is all fixed up, I will up my rent money and make him feel like he's making something. we got a ways to go before then. things like running water and fixing the trailer roof need to be addressed before I wanna pay rent.

anyways.

You know, at some point these piddling sounding little defects add up to something more than the vehicle is worth. I know it's a tough idea to sell, but sometimes you just gotta do it.
