@The Chief,
Aw, you know how it will go, Chief. The site is not only different in looks and navagation, it's a different society and all that goes with that. And six months from now, you won't imagine how anything else would work - probably.

Anyway, welcome.

@roger,
Thanks Roger. All in the name of progress, I guess...

@The Chief,
Welcome to A2K, Chief.

I'm sure it does feel a bit as though you've gone through the looking glass.

Hopefully more of the errrrr Droiders show up and you can get going on your old threads (and new ones, as you've got an opportunity to teach and convert more folks here Wink ).

Welcome.

@The Chief,
This reminds me of Digg... I don't like Digg... Reddit all the way...

@iamthewinnar,
Welcome to a2k iamthewinnar.

That's funny, I much prefer reddit too, but not for the looks, digg's prettier.

@cmacv2,
That reminds, me, if you want a quote button it's a preference you can set:

@Robert Gentel,
I prefer the simplicity of Reddit in addition to it's userbase.

@iamthewinnar,
The userbase is what does it for me. I find the commenting system on reddit more awkward.

I hope you stick around, redditors are close culture fits with us I think. A2k tends to be an older, less-technical demographic (more philosophy and politics than technology) but both are similarly intellectual.

@Robert Gentel,
The commenting can be hard to follow sometimes (on long comment threads)

I will of course, give A2k a fair shot Smile I'm liking it so far, I'm sure I will like it more once I get it figured out.. I'm a web developer myself so I'm sure it won't take long Wink

@iamthewinnar,
Nice! I'm dying to get more web developers here. Our programmer Nick pretty much told me he's not gonna hang out here till I get some more geeks for him to talk to.

What kind of web development do you do?

I'm guessing it's PHP, Ruby, or Python. No way it's .NET right?

we all had ruffled panties when this changed over.

Any semi forced change ( even with months of warning Laughing ) is frustrating.

BUT
just as you were able to navigate the old one with your eyes closed, you can do that here too. And to a certain extent it is a tad easier. Tags make things easier to find for the individual who uses them

@Robert Gentel,
PHP /Javascript are my main languages, I can fumble around with ASP. I also do some design work

Looking into Android development too..

@iamthewinnar,
PHP/JS is our stack on a2k as well.

Do you recall if there were many android developers on the forums? I'm interested in learning more about android development myself and want to eventually do an a2k app for it (would love some testers!).

@Robert Gentel,
Um I don't recall... I actually tended to forget about droidmotorola.com I only checked it every so often (normally spent time on Reddit instead =p)

I'd be willing to assist with development and help test though. It'd give me a reason to actually sit down and learn the framework.

@The Chief,
Welcome to A2K, Chief and other Droid peeps. You will probably find that you like this place more than you currently expect to.

I am VERY attracted to that slide out keyboard on the Droid, and I am curious if any users have switched to it from a Blackberry Storm. I would like to know which usability features I'd be giving up in exchange for that nifty keyboard.
(I use Verizon, if that matters.)

@OCCOM BILL,
I've moved this question to a more appropriate location, and would appreciate any guidance here:
