My Motorola Razr had the option to get the phone to announce the call before the ringtone. It would say "Call from John Doe" or whoever was calling from my contact list or recite the phone number if it was not in the contact list. I knew who was calling before ever looking at the phone.
Anyone know of a way to get the Droid to do something similar?

Yes. Go to market and search voice caller id. It's free and works well. You will have to load another free app to give the phone it's voice. It will prompt you when to download
I had this feature on my last phone. I missed it till I found it for the Droid.

You could always just assign diff ringtones to different contacts. If that suits you.

That works for a few contacts, but I have 250 names in my contact list of clients, associates, etc.
