Suicidal ideation in children -- when to take it seriously?

@boomerang,
I don't know what to say, except giving my sympathies and support here.
It strikes me that Mo is inclined now to miss school, perhaps there is the key
to everything - kids at school can be so cruel. You might not get anything
out of Mo, but perhaps other kids around him.

That's always my take on things, I ask several kids what's going on, and usually
can put two and two together.

Good luck in getting this resolved!

Perhaps there are workshops or lessons going on at school that are bringing up this subject. Everytime my grandkids went thru "abuse" discussions at school, they used that word everytime they got disciplined.

Cyber-bullying workshops at schools are turning up at all schools this month. So the kids will be talking about it a lot and the vocabulary will crop up in discussions at home, I'm sure.

@sullyfish6,
That's a good point, sullyfish. It has been in the news about the girl who hanged herself after being bullied at school. Perhaps there has been talk of bullies and suicide at school.

I don't know how to bring it up to see if that might be where it originated without bringing it up or otherwise introducing the topic.
