No, Totally a misunderstanding of nihilism. Suicide in an option. If you choose to live you go out to absorb life on your own terms. This involves destruction and birth as it accurs naturally. Very large guns are involved. Belief systems, political correctness and Religion and other forms of control are infidelity to human nature.

Is a choice to live inherently a fundamental betrayal of nihilism ?

No, What is fundamental is that NOTHING IS FUNDAMENTAL. That is nihilism, and when you understand that.... you understand true freedom. When you believe in an ideal and defend it with your life perhaps, maybe you don't really believe in it, maybe you are a free man and really a nihilist negotiating circumstances.

No, Amigo, that is a very LIBERAL interpretation of nihilism,
which is the belief that existence does not exist.

IMO Nihilism is a non-starter, because as soon as we engage in dialogue, even with ourself, we are conforming to a covert set of group norms embodied in language.

Well, Can't you apply that to all ideology and philosophy. If fact! That sounds exactly like something Nieitche (however you spell it) would say. A covert set of group norms?? If I am quilty of that then everyone is.

Correct! Its origins can be traced through Nietsche, Heidegger and Foucault. (amongst others).

The conclusion seems to be that we can be deconstructivists but never nihilists.

NIHILISM says prove your right to exist among it all. If you cannot perpetuate it, your life race, religion whatever, is because you choose one way or the other.

But whatever you choose it is a contradiction. Nihilism is (i could be wrong) the only philosophy that doesn't clapse under the weight of CONTRADICTION.
