You have no idea how gratified my fellow Austrians & I feel at your warm show of support!

I mean, is it our national costume, or something, that turns people off us? Confused

Personally I think it's very fetching & suits the climate! Especially the shorts.

After wondering what was up with their uniforms I wondered myself and used a reverse image search to find out that it was a topless football match which, by the way, I think would make Merry Andrew care again.

To answer this question with any degree of accuracy, dp, I had to go back to page 1 of the thread & check who the culprit .... er, poster of the photograph was.

And discovered it was edgar.

Edgar posted the photograph! Surprised

Now I'm totally confused. I know nothing! I have no opinion. Confused

I would have thought it was completely unknown ... outside of Austria.

But it's still reduction of an entire culture to an idiotic and inappropriate ("shrimp") caricature, and one that I run into myself frequently enough that I find it irritating, and to top it all off he can't even be made to care enough to discern between the nations!

This is insult deserving of real ire, why are you so understanding about the creation of this god awful caricature? Is this just weary acceptance?

The incessant reduction of Australia to the "G'day" and "shrimp on the barbie" references. I find it annoying as a non-Australian. I wonder how any Australian makes it through a trip to America without punching someone in the nose for it.
