No tail lights, only sticking on brake lights

Does anyone know what the problem could be or a good cheap mechanic. I have no tail lights and when the brake pedal is pushed, the brake lights stay on. Have checked fuses, tried replacing brakelight switch- to no avail.
please help...single mom in stress!

what kind of car?

and did you check the bulbs? (there are 2 filaments, one for brakes and one for lights)

do all your other lights work?
