my computer screen is randomly freezing w/ mouse stuck nothingworks unless i shut of power

We need to know the details on your computer, hardware and software to even begin to debug this. Then we need to know how many times it's been dropped down the stairs and how many cups of coffee you've spilled into the keyboard.

thanks for responding i have never posted anything ,anywere, ever!my computer is basichp mo9niter hp printer xphome service pack3 os
pintium4 1.8gig
120gighd
512mb memory everything basic no fancyprograms etc.
standardfloppy (doesnt work) no unusual spils or drops abuse etc

@nixbone,
Have you tried running an anti-virus scan on it? Also you should run an ad cleanup program?

How long after it boots up does it take to freeze? And are you doing anything in particular with it when it does freeze?

You can try running the Task Manager on the screen and waiting for it to freeze, then try to see what process is taking up all the CPU or excessive memory. That might help you identify what is causing the problem.

Get more RAM. Todays computer needs 1000GB or more. you can buy ram sticks quite easily on line or at a computer shop if you you prefer
Run an Antivirus scan. If you dont have
I use Avira but AVG is probably just as good.
