Spendi - I don't know what you specifically want to know from me. I'm disappointed and it frustrates me. Is there something beyond that you'd not be able to deduce after reading my posts for as long as you have?

I'm not surprised at how the vote went. A lot of people who've never lived in New York think of New York (the state) as one big city, when in fact the majority of the state is fairly rural, and not really a preferred destination for back-to-the -landers as are Maine, Vermont and even New Hampshire. So you don't have that sort of liberal hippy influx or influence in New York state that you get in some of the New England states.
