@CalamityJane,
Yes to that.

And I don't dislike Oprah. A friend is a friend (six degrees of so what). I wish her well.. but the fact remains that I've never seen even a second of the show. And my surgeon was involved in some medical education site with her at one point.

Dayam, CJ, now that I've met you and look again at your doggie avatar, I can see an amusing resemblance, it makes me laugh.

@ossobuco,
I'll tell on myself - when I met CJ outside my cousin's house, I tripped, since I was looking at the front gate and the driveway gate and not the damned step. So there was immediate comedy that made for immediate comfort. Thank god she didn't just frown at me. Anyway, that avatar makes me happy.

Tangent, now back to Oprah, whom I gather is not leaving until 2011.

@ossobuco,
I wonder if Oprah is getting ready for 2012 Senate election. Or another office?

She could be moving in on Kirsten Gillibrand of New York's seat by that time.

@ossobuco,
Had I brought little Lilly (dog) with me, you really would have tripped, osso.
She's so energetic and busy running and jumping at everyone....

Oprah is not actually giving up her show. She is moving it to her own network.

Is that the case? <<SIGH>> Is today a really really really slow news day? I hope the news outlets aren't giving this much airtime though I expect that assumption is out and out wrong. I can see if the networks got all worked up with the news of her ending her show but moving it to basic cable network? And in a couple of years? For all we know, that may not even happen. 2011 is too far away.

@tsarstepan,
Oprah is always news. Her last show will be September 9, 2011. That will also be my father in-laws 90th birthday.. but, I digress. This will be 25 years to the day from her first show.

I think that is the actual news story here.... not that she is leaving the network. The 25 years is what is significant.

@tsarstepan,
I was nonplussed by the Leno leaving thing, what a bunch of headlines about very little.

@Intrepid,
what's she gonna do to celebrate

she's given cars to audience members

maybe a million dollars each to 25 audience members, she could afford it for sure

There are many operas in the repertoire. Which one of them haven't you seen the program of?

@Thomas,
I'd be mighty pissed if he didn't see my personal favorite opera, Turandot! Anyone who doesn't love this Puccini work is a true PHILISTINE! Mad
