link here, and this is a really early a2k thread -
http://able2know.org/topic/802-1

So, recently I had a wee birthday celebration with jolly small gifts, and one was a book of art quotes:
Art Lovers Quotations
edited by Helen Kelly

Now these quotations may not be the ones I'd pick from various artists if I were ranging around for quotes (that takes some bookreading/googleing anew), but I might like some and even if not, perhaps they're discussible.

So this will be a new thread with an eye on art quotes, but revving up the old one is not a bad idea either. Please comment in either thread...

Some comments I might quote may not fit in a nice little book.

To start, I'll pick one at random from this small gift book -

"A man paints with his brains and not with his hands."
Michelangelo (1475-1564)

Meantime, man, was that a good thread, energizing to reread, once it got going. Well, it was, from my point of view.

@Green Witch,
Stealing is newly interesting, what with whatsisname and whatsisname. I truely forget, thinking Prince or Price for the first one and Fairie or similar for the second.

Some of my own paintings have riffed off of photos of others so I'm not without sin, though I usually use those only as a trigger and you'd never connect them.
This is all complicated by artists who play steal.
