Ideas needed for spooky party food.
I'll be buying some fingerling potatoes. I'll carve up a few to look like fingers and put them around the table. I'll buy some beets for a little color.
Also, I'm thinking of doing the garlic-carrot dip again, but this time also with some beet red in the mix.
What else? this is for adults, not for tiny tots, so it can get pretty gruesome.
I could send you some fries from Blake's Lota Burger. They're more than a little spooky.
Omigawd, I had forgotten all about that place! Scary indeed.
Well, I may or may not get spooky. I'll shoot for making guacamole (pretty spooky in the right light) if I can find some ripe avocadoes. I'll buy the fingerlings and carve them up while raw for decorations, but not for eating.
oooooh, some good ideas, butrflynet, thanks! I'd forgoteen all about the jell-o angle....
There is also an eyeball thing made with Jello. I'll see if I can find the recipe.
This isn't exactly the recipe I had in mind, but it is pretty creepy.
Edible Eyeballs and other creepy things
Oooooh, I love these recipes!
Littlek, there is a mold you can buy that is in the shape of a brain--you could put Butrflynet's recipe into, making it even more realistic.
Peanut Butter Pasta could be put into a mold and shaped into something brainish.. Or, if you cut up the pasta into small pieces it would look like maggots.
Swimpy, that site is stupifying! i love it!
Fishin - That is a good idea. Especially if I added a little fleshy red food coloring to the peanut sauce.
