during slow turns and speeds, such as stopping at lights, there is a clunking/ tapping noise comming from the car. I have looked at the cCV joints and none of the boots seem to be damaged... anything else possibly wrong?

@pathfinder06,
Yes, something else is possibly wrong. Hopefully a car expert will come by and give you helpful advice (not me, sorry).

In the meantime:

What is the year, make and model of your vehicle?
Is the sound the "typical" bad CV joint clicking sound (if you know what that is), or a different sound?
Have you had your brakes checked recently?

@pathfinder06,
If your Pathfinder used anti-sway bars, that could be it. I'm not really up on vehicles that use CV joints and struts. Anyway, it's just a little rubber bushing that can sometimes wear, and fall out. If the noise is much worse on turns than just slowing down, this is a good possibility. A quick under the car visual inspection should let you confirm or eliminate this possibility.

@pathfinder06,
not an expert, but nothing you have told us so far pings any definitive theories for me.

I suggest taking a mechanic for a ride, and showing him what you are hearing.

@pathfinder06,
I guess it is break problem. But for safety check with garage.

I've read that a rotted cv boot is indicative of a bad joint, but I don't know that that's the only way to tell if they've failed. As mentioned, sway bar bushings is another possibility. Also maybe sway bar links, tie rods, center link, idler arm, struts, mounts, thrust arm bushings...
