Old Car buffs? I got you a challenge!

I have looked everywhere I can think of but I need some help.

There is a car that I've wanted for years, it's in a friends lot and has been there for quite some time. It resembles a 49-51 Chevy Belaire as far as the rounded body style, but its a convertable. It is also considerably smaller. I'm guessing made some time in the 40's. There are letters that are accross the hood that spell SKORGA. I'm guessing that is the model, not the make, but I couldnt find any other markings on it. I know it is a rear motor vehicle and the man that has it said that it was his father's favorite car and he thinks that it was made in Italy.

So far, I've found nothing on the internet. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I am going to try to get some pictures of it tonight and hopefully, follow up with a link. I'm not very optimistic about finding parts for it...since I can't even find where it came from!
Thanks,

Silvervendetta- Welcome to A2K! Very Happy

I think that you have given us a rough one. On a perfunctory look, it seems like skorga is a Norweigan word!

Found it!
Did a little more checking and went back by the car yesterday...the reason I thought there was a G in the name is that the d in Skoda is broken and fell down so that it resembled a broken g at first glance. The car is a Skoda Felicia (the Octavia convertable model) approx. 1954. Made in Italy. Found numerous fan and collector websites and am well on my way of researching my new (hopefully!) baby.

I'm quite sure that "Skoda" is a Czechoslovakian company recently absorbed by VW. The country is now two countries the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It may be possible that Skoda was in Italy, but I doubt it.

I remember Skodas around the 1950's. The most bizarre thing about them was the oil filter - it was a simple roll of tolet paper.

About a year ago, I was visiting England, and had the opportunity to ride in a Skoda based on a lengthened VW Passat. It was luxuriously appointed. It was powered by a 200 hp turbo diesel, six speed stick/automatic. We rode in the suburbs of a major city hitting 90 at times. I was terrified.

On level ground, he put the car in sixth gear at idle speed
and floored it. The car smoothly gathered speed and ended going faster than permitted.
