French President Nicolas Sakozy's precocious 23 year old son, Jean Sakozy, is going to be named head of Epad, the development agency for LaDefense.

This job was once held by his father.

Many of us sincerely hope so, because this case is obviously nepotism.

There are huge protests around here and we hope he abandons the idea soon..

@Francis,
I understand that Sarkozy is Hungarian born.

Who put him in power?

@Sglass,
No, Sarkozy is French born, from Hungarian ancestry..

French citizens put him in power, they elected him..

....just like they elected Bush Senior and later on his son Bush Jr. - was that nepotism too? You'll decide!

@CalamityJane,
was it not JFK that appointed his brother Bobby as Attorney General?

@Francis,
Well, the opposition (and a lot of French) oppose, but Sarkozy's party, the conservative UMP, supports "le Dauphin".

To give an idea about the new territory of the French crown prince, here's a plan from today's Liberation (page 4 - pages 1 to 4 on that paper deal with it)

@CalamityJane,
my preference would have been for JFK to appoint Bobby as President.

This is not similar at all.

Sarkozy's son is a law college student, 23 years old.

Are you telling me that this guy is professional enough to manage a development agency that deals with billions of Euros?

Only in banana republics you see a young son of a president appointed to such positions.

There's no way he would be appointed if he was not Sarkozy's son.

(He is not there yet)..

@Francis,
Well, France had had before already Claude Chirac-jamais-sans-ma-fille.
And there has been a Jean-Claude Mitterand-Papamadit.
You've now got Jean Sarkozy de Nagy-Bocsa-Papamafait. Wink

@Walter Hinteler,
Some difference here:

- Claude was personal PR advisor for Jacques Chirac.

- Jean Christophe was " African affairs" advisor for François Mitterrand.

- Jean Sarkozy will hold an official position in a public agency.

And to me that will make a huge difference.
