hbg, couldn't see your picture although I tried to restore it several times.

I'm guessing, but it may have something to do with Hansel and Gretel who got lost here:

your picture reminds me of one of the many beautiful houses in charleston .

we thought this house on the charleston riverfront was a real beauty .
seeing those spring gardens in march made us forget about the snow in kingston

http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/7629/riverfront1xa7.jpg

the house was right at the corner of ATLANTIC STREET and ZIG-ZAG ALLEY Laughing

hbg, the homes in Charleston, South Carolina, are authentic. The homes in Williamsburg, Virginia are not. The entire town was restored. Here's one with seven gables.

even though williamsburg is kind of a museum , it's a nice place to visit and being away from any traffic enhances the experience .

we never stayed or had dinner at the WILLIAMSBURG INN , but went a couple of times for CONTINENTAL BREAKAST (a little less expensive - downright inexpensive , actually ) - the setting and the service were just superlative (wouldn't mind staying at the iNN Laughing ) .

(wasn't brave enough to snap a picture inside the dining room myself , so this will have to do .
i didn't want to upset the BLUEBLOODS that were having their morning coffee before going for a round of golf . )

letty :

that house looks like the "teacaddy house" here in kingston .
it is the former residence of canada's first prime minister - sir john a. macdonald .
the house is now a national heritage site .
btw. the gardens are planted with "heritage plants" appropriate to the 19th century when he and his family lived there for some years .

Oh, hbg. I hope your P.M.'s house was not a house of ill repute as was the house of the rising sun in New Orleans. Razz

Before it was destroyed, this one was a brothel.
