manitoba(canada) garter snakes forming a "mating ball" ,
garter snakes in manitoba come out of hiding in masses on a set day every year - even if there is still snow on the ground - out they come !

these gators are just a tad more active - no doubt in a mood to chew off someone's leg !
i find gators rather fascinating - from a distance

I'm afraid that my alligator, Anatole, is dead, hbg, but Mary Margaret Moorhen has produced four lovely babies.

i understand that once those "babies" are grown up , they are getting mighty hungry - you might want to buy a NEW tele-lens for your camera !

i remember when we stayed on hilton head island a few times , a nightly entertainment was to sit on the ELEVATED  back-porch that was facing the canal and throw cheesies to the alligators .
all we could see were their glowing red eyes and hear a crunch when they munched the cheesies - hope we didn't spoil their appetite .
