Susano'o is one of the gods, i.e., the god of the sea and storms, in Japanese Shinto, and he is famous for his stormy violence and power. One tale about him tells that he slayed eight headed serpent ("Yamata-no-orochi"), which is not a dragon, by beheading each of the eight heads when the serpent fell asleep after drinking sake (rice wine) from each of the eight pots that Susano'o had provided. The tale comes from ancient times and is very famous among Japanese people.
