Hey, tko, you might, just might, like the show of Robert Frank's photography at the Met, which starts the 22nd. It's developed around his book (somewhat controversial at the time) "The Americans". He was born in Switzerland and was a reporter during the thirties and the war years, and Jewish. He left and came to the US in the '47, glad to get here. This show is about his road trip around the US, with his 'foreign eyes', with a guggenheim scholarship, in the fifties. He got the scholarship with the push of Walker Evans and Edward Steichen.. and the forward to the book is by Kerouac. I've not seen that book myself, but my ex and I had another book of his photos, which went into his stack at our breakup, since that had been a present from me. Frank had (has, he is still alive) good eyes.
