Why conservatives hate America and freedom . . .

Really, it's pretty obvious if you just give it some thought--it was a real "i coulda hada V8!" moment for me.

A lack of dietary fiber and unresolved potty-training issues . . . it makes so much sense. Childish and either constipated or suffering diarrhea, conservatives are selfish and don't play nice with others.

We shouldn't hate them--they deserve our pity.

@Setanta,
Have you seen the latest one where they don't want the President to talk to their children?

They don't think the President should be able to brainwash their children with socialist ideas by talking to them in a televised broadcast to children in school. How much disrespect can they show the office of the Presidency?

Those parents should just keep their children home from school . . . after all, schools are full of dangerous ideas like evolution, economics and history. You just can't be too careful these days . . .

Good point . . . when it comes to hocus-pocus, you can't do better than a politician discussing the economy . . .

Being Jewish, I find this thread so ironic, since back in the 1960's, at the height of the Vietnam War, there were many Jews of a liberal bent, that were criticized by the working class conservative types, for supposedly hating America and its freedom. Many Jews were not for the Vietnam War, and criticized for that position by so many of the average conservative (Democratic) voters. Amazing, is it not, that Jews and Gentiles, en masse, never seem to find themselves on the same page, at the same point in time. It really is mystical almost?

@Foofie,
Speaking of Jews, I recently went flying with my dad, who's a private pilot and a gentile. We landed safely.

Now that is a great anecdotal story of a happy Gentile family. Why are there not more of you?

Fuckin' seriously. The culture of "outrage" in this country is getting out of hand, in no small part due to the constant cycle of internet headlines that give relevance to total bullshit. See "Joe the Plumber."

I love when some half-wit PTA from Bumfuck (no, I didn't pursue the story beyond the headline, but let's face it, my judgements are usually accurate) becomes suddenly attuned to the Orwellian. Just on a whim. Not when their President is actually eavesdropping, starting illegal wars, and torturing dyslexic puppies. But when he talks to their kids.

Know why Bush never talked to their kids? Because he was intimidated by their vocabulary.

Suddenly all you have to do is buy some markers and posterboard, and you are granted political influence. Which reminds me, will someone please ask these Town Hall "protesters" a real question? Here's one: what is the Marxist definition of socialism?

Years ago I demonstrated against the Transatlantic Business Dialogue, an organization that facillitates an ubridled globalization agenda and subjects laws passed by our elected officials to some tribunal of cockwipes in Geneva, Switzerland. I marched with schoolteachers, steel workers, and nuns. What happened? Well, the local news picked out one of several hippie dumbfucks marching solely in hopes of attaining a blowjob from that hot chick in his poly-sci class, and asked him actual questions. And then the notoriously friendly Cincinnati police fired tear gas at us.

Awesome.

@Gargamel,
The right preaches all their crap of constitutional democracy and only wants it on their limited terms. Privacy is an option, not necessarily a right.

Im looking at the Balkanization of the US due to these moroni.

@Foofie,
I find watching John Stewart helps buffer a lot of the absurdity of the conservatives. I read somewhere, conservatives like to be guests on his show because he's polite, respectful and wants to understand their point of view.

I don't think it's Gentiles en masse that don't align themselves with Jews, I know plenty of goyum who are liberal.

There are conservative Jews and liberal Jews, same as with other human beings. I don't ever lump them all together.

The conservatives who are rock solid fundamentalists have no desire to learn anything. They are as a stirred up hill of fire ants. They will attack any person or thing that requires original thought or perception. It is ingrained that, to them, nothing Obama does or says will have credibility his entire term.

My mom is one of those right winged people that write many letters to congress people and forward the chain letters and believe a lot of the extreme right winged propaganda. Compared to her, I am a liberal.

She asked the other day about Obama speaking to me kids at school. I said "Well, he is the President. What do you think he is going to do, talk about a communist manifesto or something?"

I know my kids well enough and have taught them to think for themselves. Knowing them, they will most likely be talking to another kid in class instead of paying much attention as most kids will also be doing. If the President wants to talk to the kids in public schools I am fine with that, but I can see that some parents could have an issue with it. I agree with whomever it was above that suggests having their kids stay home that day if it really bothers them. Show some parenting for your children.

Uhm, thank you for the reasonable tone, McG, but this is the "Why conservatives hate America and freedom" thread. There is, however, a "That dangerous commie Obama is gong to try to indoctrinate our innocent youth" thread which you might also post in.

No, they just absolutely and positively hate this 'man of color' in the White House. Period. Now, the media and the journalists and the pundits and everyone else can dress it up any way they like but this consistent vitriol for any and every single thing this administration attempts to do, no matter how small and insignificant it may be, is plain ol' knee-jerk hatred that's based on nothing but the obvious. There's a great big elephant in the room and everyone should open their eyes, see it, acknowledge it and find the balls to deal with it. I say call the bastards out. One by one. Make them either confess their venomous racism or look like a fool while trying to deny it.

Ask not what you can do for the children, but what the children can do for you. Here, a child is teaching a president how to read a book about America.

@Setanta,
They care more about property than democracy. I recognize that owning property is an extention of freedom, but it is derivative to it and not antecedent and does poorly as the primary social force in shaping a culture, but conservatives have that ass-backwards.

In other words, in the eyes of the conservatives, property ownership precedes freedom; property owners reign supreme, and if you don't own property, you aren't worth ****, and you aren't free.

Otherwise, I would recommend the Essay by F.A. Hayek, "Why I am not a Conservative"

@Finn dAbuzz,
People voted you down, Finn, but I voted you up because I figure that when you try that hard to say something intelligent, you've got to be given due consideration and encouragement.
