Foofie, quit playing the martyr, you're just an old fool. Nothing ever happened to you! You're treating your religion like it is a lifestyle. If you're that much into Judaism why don't you go down to a Kibbutz and help your fellow Jews in Israel? Instead you're complaining to no end about the
Germans while sitting comfy on your worn out sofa.
For your information, I was born and raised in Germany and have plenty
of jewish friends in the U.S. and Israel who neither think like you nor ever
will be as narrow minded as you. So don't hide behind your religion, you're
just a miserable person, period.
My being a miserable person has nothing to do with my Jewishness. I would be a miserable person with any other ethnic identity.
You may not perceive that what the Nazis did was just the culmination of two-thousand years of European anti-Semitism. The Nazis being Germans, and in the 20th century, could be more efficient at what other European nationalities did to Jews earlier. Remember, Germans as a people, in my opinion and many others, are intelligent, industrious, and efficient. That can be used for good and bad.
So, I will rail against anti-Semitism, since it has nothing to do with me. It has to do with Jews in general, and the fact that the world never seems to shake the virus of anti-Semitism completely. If it is not in the Christian world today, then it seems to be alive in the Moslem world. When it was not in the Moslem world, it was in the Christian world.
But, I do not know why you react to my concerns about anti-Semitism and in this case about Germany and its past. You would prefer me to send the world the message that Jews will be friendly as soon as they are stopped being hunted? Sorry, I cannot feel that I am being intellectually honest to do that, since I know many American Jews that feel that Germany will never get one cent of their vacation dollar. You do know that there are other countries in Europe that have been nicer to Jews in the 20th century.
Sorry to get you upset if I did. Your being German is a non-sequitor. My recommendation, if you do not mind my addressing your reaction, is to realize that the largest ethnic group in the U.S. is German-American that are thoroughly American, and that is why this is such a decent country, since the U.S. is "inclusive," rather than "exclusive," as opposed to how much of Europe has been for its history.
