Trapped Whale Rescued by Divers, Gives Gratitude

A female humpback had become entangled in a web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds and struggled to stay afloat.

This is a story of giving gratitude.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her—a very dangerous proposition.

One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.

The diver who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

May you be so fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you.

And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude.

http://now.msn.com/illinois-litter-control-law-makes-it-a-crime-to-drop-cigarette-butts

Police should have to make a quota like what was done with marijuana and DWI arrests. If police do not arrest a certain amount of people each month for littering they should lose department funds and get a dock in pay...

Police are not serious enough about the war on litterbugs and littering!

Police should also have to attend regular seminars that outline and stress the need for curbing all littering. Much like the DARE program used to do.

I remember walking in the park a year or so ago and someone had thrown a used plastic baby diaper on the ground. They just opened the door of their car and threw the soiled diaper on the ground. People need to have the fear of God put into them over this stuff. Also these tidy little doggy bags with poop in them. It was nice they picked up their dog's poop in the bag but how about properly disposing of the bag afterwards? I don't own pets there is no reason why I should have to endure the odor of other people's (2 and 3) pets and see their discarded poop bags abandoned all over the place. I see people out walking with two and three dogs in urban areas and I have to think, isn't one dog enough? The streets already smell strong of dog urine. How many dogs do people really need when areas of the city are so profuse with the odor from pets...?

The pet odor will knock you out on a hot summer's day, come on, be sensible people!???

A dead whale just washed ashore. What they found in its belly implicates Trader Joe's.

@RexRed,
http://isamaras.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/trash-pattern.gif

The US army will bomb oil tankers to hurt the selling of oil by the new Islamic State to some countries of Europe that are buying it.

Who will clean that mess?

Who will save the affected species when oil splits on the waters?

This is an action made by the US government against the entire world.

What are you going to do now?
