@hingehead,
Wow, that's a pot full of fun. I think I will buy stock in Purina. I finally picked a new avatar, the photo is of Ruby, our 3 year old Vizsla. She's checking out Sophie, her older sister sitting in mr. glitterbags lap.

@ossobuco,
What can I say, she demurred. Elegant looking but completely nuts. Much like the glitterbags. If I ever figure out how to post videos I've got some great footage of the 2 stooges.

@Region Philbis,
Not really a howler, like coon hounds or beagles. They are very vocal, but barking is their medium....like German short hairs, weimaraners. They grumble, complain and make tons of noises to let you know when they are unhappy, want attention, happy and they also have an unusual pitiable groan when they don't want you disturbing their nap.

Check out YouTube and type in vizsla dogs, those vidios pretty much describe every vizsla I have ever known. These are high energy dogs and require exercise. God help you if it rains for too long or if snow prevents then from the manic zipping around. They like to bark sometimes while they run around. It's very funny.

@glitterbag,

interesting.
i'll check out some vizsla vid's later...

reason i ask is there's (what we think is) a vizsla across the street from us that we affectionally refer to as "the a-roo dog",
because every time he gets let out in the yard, he howls like crazy for several minutes.

don't think we've ever heard him bark... but now i'm wondering if he's a coon hound...

@Region Philbis,
There are some hounds that have similar coloring, sort of a rusty gold. But vizslas can do the roooo rooooo rooowwwwoooo before they settles down. It usually means they are outside by themselves and want for the humans to come out or let them back in. Hounds will run thru the woods and wail the roooo etc, but much louder and carries for miles. Their howl is long and unbroken. I wish I had a clip for you. The YouTube videos will nail it down.
