Dogs have their own peculiar personalities. I was walking the dog boy over to a local church at which he likes to lie down and watch the world go by. There were three or four teenagers hanging around the side door. I thought to myself, there's no good reason for teenagers to be hanging around a church on a Saturday night. I said to Mr. Bailey, they must be up to no good. He said: "Of course they're up to no good, they're teenagers." He doesn't like teenagers, and he absolutely hates skate boards. He also doesn't like anything which subverts the natural order. Last summer, we were hangin' out on the church lawn. There's a corner store across from that, and beyond that a two story building. Some men were doing something on the roof of that building. When Mr. Bailey noticed that, he began barking at them. I shushed him, and one of the guys hollered down to ask why he was barking. I said: "Because you're not supposed to be up there." He looked at me blankly for a moment, then he and his buddy laughed. "We're almost done, we'll be leaving soon." Mr. Bailey muttered: "See that you do." As we were walking home, we turned onto a side street, and someone had a trash can on the sidewalk. Mr. Bailey didn't like that. Trash cans on the sidewalk on Thursday evening are OK by him, because the trash collectors come along on Friday morning. But they're not supposed to be out there at any other time, so he didn't like that.
While were hangin' out at the church, the teenagers, who apparently had walked around the block, came to the corner store, and when they saw us they came to a sudden stop, and turned around and walked back the way they had come. A few minutes later, one of them came back to the corner store, and then continued around the corner, up to the next corner, and then up the street. About five minutes later, he came back walking in the opposite direction. When he got to the corner store, i could see a couple of those guys peeking around the corner of the building.
"See, i told you they were up to no good," said Mr. Bailey.
@Region Philbis,
OMG. You made my day. And my day needed making. Thanks.
please to throw ball now...
This is part of a Huffington Post slide show on the intelligence of dogs.

10. Yaaaaaawn…
In the new millennium, intelligence isn’t just about quantum physics and rocketing to the moon. There is also emotional intelligence. For instance, empathy is your ability to feel what someone else is feeling. We all know dogs can look empathetic, but is there anything behind those soulful eyes, or are they just begging for food? A simple measure of empathy is yawning. If you see, hear, or even think about someone yawning, you will probably feel an irresistible urge to yawn. Contagious yawning is related to empathy scores in adults. In one study, over 70% of dogs yawned when they saw someone yawning.

Did somebody say treat? My two, Rex and Scott.
@JeffreyEqualityNewma,
Look at those faces!
How old are Rex and Scott?
They're our children, both are now ten years old but in excellent health. However they don't play as much as they use to. They're getting on in age.
@JeffreyEqualityNewma,
My two dog-children are getting ancient. About 16 and 17 now. The old girldog is blind, nearly deaf, a bit senile and prone to going ass over teakettle down stairs - we've got barriers up everywhere. She's still so happy it's a bit bizarre at times. The boydog is older - thinks he is still a hot-rodding teenager - he wheezes for 10 minutes whenever he comes back from dragging Set around the block.
@JeffreyEqualityNewma,
Your furkids look marvellously healthy. Their expressions are priceless and so different - one's giving the sad-eye and the other seems to be giving a slightly stronger message (or thinks he is
).
I just love mature dogs. Puppies are great but an older dog can just be so lovey.
@Region Philbis,
That was great, Boss, thanks!
@Region Philbis,
Ok, you got me roaring laughing.
@Region Philbis,
Just found The Dog House - and so glad I did! What wonderful photos and video clips - the expression on the face of the dog being vacuumed is priceless!
