Oh, I am so glad Archie came back and both cats are in the house again.
Let's not dwell on things that could have....it didn't, thank goodness.
Now the doodle not urinating: I'd call the vet in the morning if he hasn't done
anything by then.

Poor hinge, you deserve a drink when the Mrs. is back home!

@CalamityJane,
Hi CJ
I called the vet this morning, and they said it's pretty normal but to call them tomorrow morning if there's no joy - so you are spot on. Your Bachelor of Veterinary Science is in the mail!

He usually 'empties' on command - I think the mechanics is confusing him too. He's only this year learnt to cock his leg, he still wees like a horse sometimes, I think his Robert-Jones bandage is freaking him a little - what a joy it is to get the rubber band and plastic bag around that so it doesn't get wet and then carry a 32 kilo (70lb?) dog out for a wee, and not even get that!

He's been great putting up with the small enclosure we have to keep him in. But he's decided he's not going in it under his own steam but it has a zip top so I can lower him in, as long as my back holds out.

@hingehead,
70 pounds, oh, man!

I had trouble with Pacco who was 35-40 pounds, heavy for a corgi, but he was much longer than most corgis are now. And I'm, uh, weaker than I was in my days of house remodelling, etc.

I remember that littlek carried Bootsie out to pee et al for a long time. Good woman..

@hingehead,

I've had the worst 18 hours of my life!

Good grief, hinge. I just read all this. What a nightmare!

Quote:
I couldn't sleep last night, up at first light sticking more notices in letter boxes and hunting the neighbourhood bailing up the early walkers with flyers

Aw you poor thing. (Been there, done that I know how it feels . Bloody awful!!)

Quote:
I though I could hear Sam crying from the study window, next to the front steps, but then I noticed that big ginger head peeping out from under the stairs, so I have to get Doodle back inside ASAP with out jerking his leg, then go back and coax archie out from under the stairs. He's fine, has a bit of foliage in his fur but was dry and unfussed, nearly killed him in joy.

Oh what a relief. I think the gods were on your side. Phew!

Quote:
I'm still shaking with the stress -

I believe you. And all of this in just 18 hours!

Quote:
Not relishing telling Mrs Hinge the whole story but I will, so thankful that that story has a happy ending.

So will she be!
That all has ended so well.
Aghh, it could have been so much worse, hinge.

<pat, pat> Try & relax now. The worst is over. All critters safe & well! Smile

Do keep us posted on Doodle's progress.

@hingehead,
How is doodle doing today, hinge? Has he gone potty yet?

Most importantly, have you posted pictures yet of Archie, Doodle and the other cat together? I see Doodle on your avatar, he's just great!

@CalamityJane,
Hi CJ

He had 'an accident' last night sometime - but didn't seem embarrassed fortunately. So we can scratch the catheter. Couldn't get him to wee this morning, will try again this arvo.

Next challenge is a bowel movement. Which he never seems to do unless he can run around like an idiot first to 'shake it loose'.

I think he's embarrassed to wee while I'm holding his lead. Mrs Hinge suggested staking his lead in a private part of the front yard and supervising from a distance. Will try this arvo.

@tsarstepan,
Indeed it has, does feel like stuff is piling up 'making us stronger, or killing is in the process'. Mrs Hinge and I both have to travel a lot in the next couple of months for work and family, Doodle's op is a big spanner in the works. We'll sort it somehow.

aaawww those pictures are priceless, hinge. So you've got 3 dogs and 2 cats, or were the other dogs just visiting? They're all so precious and lovely. Great pictures and thanks for sharing!

So what do you do with them when you both travel?

@CalamityJane,
The little Maltese terrier (Gizzmo) died in 2008 just before our trip to Italy He lived to a ripe old 12. Chloe Bear is a Maltese/West Highland cross (Gizzmo was her dad) she's the fraggle with the furry ears behind the cushion. We always get a house sitter in - must love cats and dogs!

I've just realised I don't have many recent photos of Archie up - he's huge now (8 kilos - 18 lbs) but still gentle as. Will also put up some 'Doodle in a cast' ones and some family shots, and the Archie/Chloe wrestling shots.

The one ear up and the one ear down is a great look for him Izzie.

I think he deserves a few chunks of cheese in his breakfast bowl this morning. It looks like he deserves the extra treat. That and an extra long hug and a kiss on the schnoz.

loyal companion you can ever have.
