@glitterbag,
Really? at the top of the picture there is a place to click on the next one of the eighteen, over to the right in small print.(<1 to 18>), click on the whatchacallits, carots?

You can enlarge the photos too, also to the right about the photo..

@ossobuco,
He's lovely.

My brother (France) acquired a female one of those about three years ago. Her name is Razmotte (more later) and she had not a very good life before, always being badly bullied in the small pack that resided with her.

Within a week of being with my bro, they were inseparable. He is an electrician who drives a big white van, and she sits alongside him all day, and sleeps on his seat when he is in a house doing a job.
She now lives for being in the van, and gets quite disappointed at the weekend when he doesn't go to work.

Now.....Razmotte. The nearest translation for this is 'earth shaver', and characterises how a border collie covers the ground when they run....almost touching the earth with their bellies, and absolutely flat when she stops.

I looked up Razmotte to see if it was a common name for collies in France, but immediately got distracted by a 'vimeo' vid with Razmotte in the title, which I shall now post on a 'video of the day' thread, as it's great.

So, if you have a border collie.....remember.....Razmotte. Brilliant name.

I loved watching the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this week. The number of dog breeds never fails to astound me, and I always learn something new. This time I found out that the Shih Tzu is more closely related to the wolf than any other dog breed. It's hard to believe this dog is more closely related to a wolf than a German Shepard is, but that's the truth. Laughing

Shih Tzu.

Sky, a Wire fox terrier, won Best in Show at the 138th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York. The show brought 2,845 dogs to Madison Square Garden this week to compete. Check out highlights of the two-day dog extravaganza.

The "reserve winner"--or runner-up--was the standard Poodle.

As a Poodle fanatic, that was who I had been rooting for to take Best in Show. The coat on this Poodle was absolutely magnificent. I hate the lion cut that Poodles must be clipped in for the show ring, and keeping them groomed and looking like that must be an awesome task.

I've got to take my Poodle pup for his first professional grooming, something I keep putting off because I know it's going to be a very difficult experience for both Toby and the groomer--that first haircut for a Poodle always is, and my boy really dislikes being brushed, or having to stand still, and he's frightened of blow dryers. It's going to be a nerve-wracking time for all, including me. Smile
