WNBA and other professional Women's sports

This is dedicated to something new - women's professional sports! I am only familar with the WNBA, but please include any other women's professional sports you are familar with. Especially with my recent disgust with the professional men's sports (ie juicing up/swelled heads/criminal activity). Not that woman are immune - I just haven't heard anything negative (yet).

I recently attended a WNBA game. It was fantastic and wonderful to have my daughters see women in a competitive environment. One of my daughters wants to be a professional basketball player so this was especially great opportunity. Anyone know what sort of salary they pull in? Anyone know of other professional women's sports? Hopefully the women can be better role models.

Womens Netball - we have a great National team here called the Silver Ferns...I grew up playing Netball and Hockey and just loved it!

Wow - I never heard of netball. I had to look it up to see what it was - very similar to basketball. The Sun (our closest professional women's basketball team) actually has a team member from Australia - she is quite good; personally she was my favorite. I loved her spirit and how hard she played.

I realize you must be from New Zealand as I looked up the Silver Ferns (and I suppose your name is a bit of a give away too). Do they have a big following? I assume you played field hockey; not ice hockey? Believe it or not we do have women leagues for ice hockey.

Yes the 'Silver Ferns' have a huge following, its like every school girls dream to grow up and become a Silver Fern, much like it is every school boys dream to become an 'All Black' - we play field hockey not much ice hockey goes on here.
