I know that Deacon skins come from the farm. I think they are cow skins. No one I know who lives on a farm knows what they are. What are Deacon skins?
@Woollcott,
a skin from a calf less than 8 pounds weight (a "deacon")
@contrex,
The term "deacon calf" is usually applied to a calf that was stillborn or died very young. The Oxford English Dictionary defines deacon calf as "a very young or aborted calf, or its hide".
