I did gus twice, so george, by rights, is number 40.

GEORGE

The brook keeps a low profile,
slinking down the gully by the graveyard
and ducking through the culvert
under Montvale Ave.

It knows its place and keeps it,
humble and rather wary.
No splashing and sparkling
over stones in the sunlight.

I'd like to see a deer stopping to drink
or barefoot children wading
instead of the rusty twisted
shopping cart some fool abandoned.

NIMH

Crocuses pop up,
visibly loudly,
like alien popsicles
too plastic too bright.
Or do they just not
give a fu ck?
Unabashedly glarily happy?
Ignoring their beds
of camouflage leaves.
The funfair comes to town
the greasy dons pitching
pegs into old-lady
grey paving stones
Come and see! Come
and experience
Brand new! Exciting and
pretty, dresses of
glitter in a
cheap pub.
The regulars, shrug
or grin,
or stare and wait.
It's summer's gentler
glow of colour, that
they'll gladly shuffle
their way down for,
into the soil below.

I saw the grave digger as I drove past.
He looked up, as if in recognition,
his face so like a skull, at home in the
centuries old gathering place.

I could feel his eyes following me
as I continued on, watching with dread, in
the rear view mirror.

His stare was compelling, as if he
had a space waiting
for me.

HEREMA

Anyone Here?

Words falling on silent walls
Silent as a lone tree falls
Deep in the forest of no ears
Where no one ever hears

Pouring out silent passions
Understanding quiet compassions
Lamenting mine anger aloud
Speaking as if to a crowd

Foolish am I? So, it may appear
Orations that no one can hear
Expressing mine indignation
Mine ego sings with elation

While the dawning of a new sun
Word's battles are victoriously won
Without regret, without sorrow
No apologies are due tomorrow

ENDYMION

If I could write I'd write a poem
The perfect poem to Wilfred Owen
And in the poem I'd tell him why
I don't believe he had to die.
Or any man in any war
Now or then or anymore.

I've had a couple of drinks and in a dark mood so I think it's the right conditions for some peotry...

The sunbeams uniquely carve out features
Of a form so wildly free
The essences linger with feeling to teach us
That nothing beats a smile and to be

A face reminds but never really is
So does it happen at all
Why lie to all the little kids?
Why do we build these walls?

We find a point to see the view from there
Yet to look is to see so many
Is there any reason to breathe the air?
Cos these lungs have had a plenty

Ideas rage in a tempest across the mind
To sit idle and still
And randomly the logic to me is fried
While the emptiness is filled

THE PROFESSOR
been with us since '05. Prolific and talented.

i can tell you how i feel
how love was once real
now these thoughts i cant conceal
i was awakened by surprise
taken in by the lies
i then a had to realize
i was just a toy
another part of the ploy
my heart is the one of a boy
who's hope and happyness was destroyed
all i want to do
is wish i never loved you
but i know its not true
the feelings between us two
must have been fake
when we lay together listening to every breath you take
when i brought you cake
just to see you smile
when we were together for awhile
i walk over glass for a mile
just to make you laugh
now my hearts in pieces you were my other half
at some point we took different paths
if we could ever
get back together
id hold you close forever
never would i let you go
without telling you i love you so
i love you from head to toe
i have overcome my only fear
to not have you here
but i know your near
goodbye my dear

7 minutes to write a poem...

There is no time, there is no rhyme
Only movements in the moment in my mind
There is no right, there are no lines
Only us drawing them in the sand so fine

There is this life, there is a climb
But no understanding of what is truly divine
There is the light, there is the night
But no sight makes them hardest to find

I like the second one, professor. I got lost reading the first, but it may not be your fault. I have been on the go all day - was tired when I sat down to read. Will try it again later.

@edgarblythe,
Each day I wake and it’s a Monday.
No different from the Monday before.
Each day a waiting game,
A vestibule to possibility
Unrealised.

Every day I sink a little lower.
Less things excite.
Less command my gaze.
I wander through the world
Oblivious.
My life a markless maze.

CARLOTTA

Under the Tomato Bush (a time when life was easy)

In my mother's garden when I was eight
Stretched on my back between the stakes
Below a lattice of translucent leaves
Pendulous red tomatoes brushed my nose.
The smell of the vines and the earth intertwined
With the taste of the fresh plucked fruit
That drooled over my cheeks into my ears.
A taste so fine that I ate another and
Watched, through a hole in my bower
As a hawk drew slow circles against the blue

CRAZYDIAMOND

Trust

Trust cuts knives, heals bleeding cuts,
Hard to hold and hard to keep
In your hands, as the blade juts
Into your heart, while you weep,
Into your soul with pleasure,
Into your flesh, painless,
Into you in the measure
Of your betrayal, no less.
In foulness it's justified,
In control it's purified,
To love and faith it's allied,
And so you see it's a must
For us to hold fast to trust;
Off mine I must wipe the dust...

The Portal of Days

It's Sunday, it's raining, it's fun
Relaxing with nothing to worry me
Sitting by an electronic portal
That my able hands control

Connected to thousands
Who are connected to me
Strangers to each other
We speak in symbols

It's Sunday here but
It might not be Sunday
There where they live
Across the sea

It's raining here but
The sun shines on others
The sky lights my path
While dark night shadows some

I'm having fun this Sunday
Reaching out across the airways
Playing with symbols that
Bring knowledge of each other

COLA

We seasoned the cast iron skillet
and lit the stove for the last time
before I wept, beneath the Christmas tree
over restricted love, over the pawn-shop
ring I refused to show my family in shame.
But I would have married you
in some other life, some other dream
and screamed your name past the silence
past keypad desire past God and the bible.
Tonight, I season the skillet alone
and celebrate women, alone.

Torture now legalized,
Theocracy underway,
Fascist dictator,
America now "freedomized",
Running for president, traitors,
That peoples votes no longer sway,

Hear the sound, U.S. demise,
Revolution getting near,
If we don't, please give rise,
The president as his great disguise,
To our new dictator, king of fear,

MCFEE FYA

ever felt like this
when so much trouble hits
that you just dont give a ****
he said my heads in the clouds
i had no reply
just popped another pill
and let out a sigh
dont even wanna try
to revive
i'll survive
but **** it if i die
i took it
its mine
sick of being a shoulder
you all weigh like boulders
pull me down
when i turn around
your'e nowhere to be found
its always my round
my sorrows that drown
its easy to preach when youre a leach
i bridged the breach
for you all
in your times of need
now im alone on my knees
telling the anonymous world
how you i grieve at your greed
bleed the blood you suck from me
take it all
its free
