rough suburbia. row of dreams
twitching windows, midnight screams
fields of cars shadows sweep
graffiti walls, concrete streets
race the night's moonlit sky
distant town lights running wild
far away the factory glow
chimneys pumping clouds of smoke

Evocative, sad, -- even mournful.

I like it, Endymion.

jjorge -

i'm interested in trying to create 'atmosphere' with words and it is hard to know what works and what doesn't

So, many thanks for letting me know
peace

Helena
Her shade becomes a fantasy
Her dream's they'll soon forget
Her life will soon seem meaningless
When shade's form doth repent

Her final slumber carried
By those that knew her best
Within white castles high above
A white rose upon her chest

A dreamer's dream no longer dreamt
Will soon be forever more
Her face forever distant
Unto that plutonium shore

Such rain that falls with silent drop
Soon heard around the world
Her once solid form takes kind to rain
When Peter's gates unfurl

I hope that she lies quietly
Upon that distant shore
And thinks again of us back when
Together to breathe once more.

Humor In Nature
The wind it stopped to say hello
A gentle breeze upon my face,
I answered back with much do tack
"Thank you for this place"

I told the trees of all I pleased
And they listened with due consent,
They told me tales, of which I wailed,
"You must be heaven sent!"

With sudden grasp I helped the grass to wave at passers by
They thanked me though their much too low
To face them eye to eye.

I've laughed at jokes made by some folks
Whom I really didn't know,
But nature seems much more serene
So that's just where I'll go.

For Him
A rose, a thorn, a crown adorned;
A punishment fit only for a king

Although unjust we must, we must
See fit to rise again.

The clouds soon part
Death he outsmarts,
For the day he rules alone.

Admonish sin, through loss we win,
And the thorn thus grows again.

The Rose
Its petals plucked, ripped and torn
The fallen rose now shamed in form.
The faceless weeds who bowed with grace,
Look up to see its purloined face.

A weary path has branched around
To see the queen without her crown.
The morning came and left its dew
And shed its light upon so few.

So many times we've walked this road
Within a crowd sometimes alone
But never did we see such sights
Too dark to see in busy lights.

Too soon have our child eyes grown
That blinds us to the sights unknown.

Forgotten Poems
Dreams no longer remembered
Days turn into night
A light forever embered
A white turned ash with fright

Flowers rest upon the ground
Gone is the forever
Marble stands where head would sound
Now is forever

Something waits upon the other side
Remember the door opens thus
He sees that which you hide
And truth becomes a must

The serpent becomes your protector
A light would seem too bright
Darkness the proctor
And day eternal night.

The boat leaves my friend hurry!
See light vanquished and fiend scurry
Do not fight
Go quietly into the darkened night.

my pupil ate my iris
my skin felt orgasmic
cheesy tunes sound so fantastic
swirling in revolving doors
talking garbage to the walls
as sparkles fall
lights are flashing
bass lines gashing
time stood still, everlasting
5 4 3 2 1
resolutions i had none
had a revolution in the club
dancing next to daffy duck
my friends the defininition of euphoria
hands up high we found utopia
boom that beat came from my chest
my hearts the drums i am the best
mitsubishis were there name
they made my head burst into flames
i cained my brains
5 6 7 8
9 10 am
im late
still high but low
can't eat no more
do i even have a jaw?
i lost my job and broke the law
memories leave me in awe forever more
happy new year xxx

A Dive To Insanity
In a room full of darkness
And the light fully gone
I've never felt comfort
For a soul's lonley song.

And the room grows ever smaller
As the madness takes hold
And the deeper I've fallen
The more expensive the toll

You cannot begin to imagine
How dark this hole gets
A dive to insanity
The pendulum's pit

What will happen forever
Cannot be foreseen
But the fever is certain
To stay till I deem

A new year just started
but what does that mean?
Will my life start all over?
Is my slate again clean?

Are errors forgotten?
Arguments solved?
Meanness forgiven,
by all involved?

Somehow I doubt
that this is the way
the cup that I broke,
is still broken today.

Without a little effort
it will all stay the same.
Because after all
it is still the same game.

The rules haven't changed
but if you're willing to,
the players can change,
that means me and you!

We can spread a little laughter
make fun, dry a tear,
this way every day
we can start a new year!

The Departed
Until my death in shallow grave
With only heart to give I gave
To you my love all the love I've saved

Don't take my death to mean I'm gone
The life I've lived will grow till strong
And the strength I gave will stay for long

Use my heart to strengthen yours
And take my life through life as oars
And make your way from "ours" to "yours"

I'll kneel beside you love, till dawn
You'll know I'm here when you feel I'm gone
My shade will stay but form's like song

Goodnight my love as love departs
I've breathed the air now breathe my heart
And take with you my love to start.

Jazz
How do you capture a feeling, a mood? How do you catch it before it disappears? A note with a melody can be written down, but the effect that it has upon the listener is the most important part. Like a dream, the notes float across the room, heard by all, understood by few. Let's give the example; a man goes to the jazz club, sits down in the darkest part of the bar, and orders a scotch on the rocks no salt. His mood is somber, his dress is formal. The band begins to play a tune that is familiar to him. His drink arrives; he sips it and lets the music intermingle with the jazz. For a moment his problems leave the bar and all that's left is the music and his drink. He is at peace. His drink is half gone leaving the ice and his mood to breathe. The music stops, the crowd applauds, and the band takes a break. In less then five minutes this man has been transformed by the complexity of jazz. It's a wonder what good music can do.
The love of music by those of us lucky enough to understand its meaning has been around since the dawn of time.

A Winters Day
When the first snow flake has fallen
And all around is white
The neighborhood falls quiet,
Waiting for that first snow fight.

The trees now seem more vibrant
With each layer of fallen snow
And the fields that shouted greenery
Now lay quiet with newfound glow.

I've never felt so warm before
Even though the temp's below
And the wind provides me comfort
With each cold breathe of snow.

Footprints line the streets today
Marking the passing of those who played
And tomorrow will be a brand new slate
And all footprints wiped away.
