that is an awesome working there, edgar!!!! Can I borrow it? I have a place I post in another forum and they like the works of the arts as well. I would be sure to credit you with it and let them know it is copyrighted (even if it is not). The other site is quite tame and well moderated.

You have captured the American way with a gentle strength of reality without focusing on the neglect to remember why the fourth of July. I actually celebrate two indepedence days (but one is not really celebrated...just remembered)

again..that is fantastic!!

tnx bunches

ps...say...would there be a title to this work? The obvious would be 4th of July, but I thought maybe you had a better title for the impact of it. I will post it as "Untitled" unless you want to give it one.

my life has fallen on a whim
as im fallin im trying to get back in
to a proper mind state
but i can only find hate
feeling lonely in a blind state
i cant see
im gettin antsy
trying to be something i cant be
free
somebody closed in society
chosed to block out variety
so now i walk out violently
throwing punches to knock out my agressions silently

Silently, I nodded in respect
Without further speaking
I turned towards the door
Departing through the kitchen to leave
She sat silently watching me
As I opened the door
And softly closed it behind me
As much as I hated goodbyes
I think she must have hated them
Worse than I
Stepping outside
Closing the door behind me
I felt I had spent my life
Within a real-life "Twilight Zone"

Realize
I've been set adrift
Inside this cove
Both shores are denied me
No one knows what I used to know
Not even me
Each fleeting second
Of loose lucidity
I cannot claim
To even be
Drifting now inside
An insane sanity
Outside a cove
I used to be
This is what I
Realize

before i went out to play

i would visit edgarblythe
i would shake his hand
make of words a scythe
to turn the rocks into sand

i no longer feed concepts
i need colors warmth soil
the ideas are discussed
to giberish by ape priest and foil

a good woman cozy meal
industry for body and ague
the war in the background
for those whove forgotten how to argue

precepts i live by just are
love of grandchildren rules
warmth of the hearth gentle words
kind disregard for agendas and fools

The Dawning

Swamps and bogs of alligator's domain
Forsaking desire sacrificing to appease
Mocking sunshine in face of the rain
Eroding stone a mighty burning disease

Survival becomes most primitive
Time has no clock to tick its passage
Salad days have forgotten to live
Ignoring ancient's warning message

Planting seeds for weeds for food
Proving too late a dire poverty
Pauper hearts burning kingwood
Flames to warm away adversity

Embracing pagan gold as true
Wisdom learned too far gone
But not before the waters turn blue
Just before eternity's new dawn

ps....I like your words, Edgar and your attitude.....nice latitude.

Ah, it feels good to be back in the spontaneous poems thread...

What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas

If I lived high up in the sky,
Would you miss me and my touch,
I'm sure, I'm sure you wouldn't,
My heart never mattered much.

Up here, up high in the sky,
I float endlessly along,
All your cares in the world gone,
And you never wonder why you feel wrong.

If I lived up high in the sky,
Would all my memories
Be anything more than thoughts of you?
And would you visit me often?
In more than memory.

My words are nuffin
Jack ****
Drivelled
From a gaping hole
I'm speechless
Wired
Unplugged
Shaken to my soul
I'm laughing
Crazy
Worked up
Digging in a hole
Defeated
Cheated
Learning
What I already know

i find lazy bones at the bank in a z-28
i have to back out of the way
so that fool got room to cruise casul out the gate

cant compete
ole lazy bones got me beat
cant stand no more
id like to walk out the door

cant compete
im standin in defeat
cant take no more
lazybones got me feeling sore

im handy round my girl i love
i thought til lazybones peeked through my door
i thought we fit like a hand and a glove
lazybones got it she wont see me no more

there's a patch of a wood
thats a thumbnail size swatch of old trees
with a small green meadow
from there to the edge of huffsmith road
it crowds the urban sprawl
bulging froward out of north tomball
a family of deer
homesteaded there just early last year

Things change, that's what I've always heard.
Life's strange, "constance" is nothing but a word.
But there is one thing that I will always believe
Each soul is precious, beyond what we can conceive.

all of your chains
arent in your brains
theres chains of the times
chains of neverending rhymes
plus the chains on your feet

not all chains are steel
and some are not real
some you feel in your heart
some you cant even start
plus the chains on your feet

plus the chains on your feet
they chain you to the stars
and the chains on your eyes
fasten you to the cart
plus the chains on your feet

how careless of me
i dropped a bomb
in your neighborhood
it was not exactly
that you aked me to come
it was for your own good
my collateral friend

so dont get sniffy
if your teeth rattle
around inside your skull
done in a jiffy
in heat of battle
dude dont ponder or mull
it was for your own good
oh collateral friend
