If that don't do it, my dear,
Try a shot of Everclear.

I think that I shall never hear
A sound so lovely as a beer
Effervescing in the stein
My noblesse friends may have their wine

But as for me, I just don't know
Should I sip Bordeaux or chug merlot
So pour a cold one; raise it high
I'm washing down this pizza pie.

Neat replies....

Colorbook:

since I already tend to hobble
My 5 oz of red wine makes me wobble....

(recommended by doc for lowering bad colesterol count)
Of course mine is under 'normal' already in good range... but the wine is such a good tipple, and the doc is such a good 'excuse' Very Happy

Colorbook, we've been feeling downhearted
And worried in case you'd departed
We've only sipped beer
'Cause we've missed you here
So now let's get the party started.

Lou and Tarah Laughing

now a change of pace Smile

in a ragged field of weeds
a space of blossoms bloom
as the lilac's violet face
gives off a sweet perfume

While around me everywhere
The air makes me feel whole

Thjat last was masterful. We're going to have to watch Tarah; she has much to offer, lots of talent.

Their mass belies their worth
As groups of golden heads
Grow proud, defies the earth
And blooms where no man treads

dogged hands claw at
dogged face in thought
until swollen nose
begins to bleed

soar eyes glow in
hollow dark pits
sinking stale light
and drinking pale
ice water
does not moisten
scrape in throat

hard at work does not
keep life afloat
reminds me of something
I forgot

Say, friends, what can I offer you?
I'm sorting out my room
Found three old sweaters and a shoe
A rose that's lost its bloom

Or else I'll write a sonnet
Perhaps a villanelle
With clever writings on it
And a limerick as well

Maybe I'll not write at all
Just read all you compose
I'm listening if you care to call
Else stay here with my rose

what things we'll find in Tarah's room
nobody knows shes got a teddy bear
with whips, and a dead rose
who knows
what things we'll find

a poem for the deaf
and a painting for the blind
whatever you don't need
in Tarah's room you'll find

a lonely girl an old woman
reading writing waiting
in Tarah's room might find
a man even, who knows
we are blind

I've work to do, my house to clean
A meal to cook, know what I mean?
But home is dirty, work undone
And husband has an empty tum
I may as well just stay in bed
For all I do is read this thread Laughing

I work hard every day
Five times a week
When it comes Saturday
Can't play I'm so weak
Won't you please
Give old Ed your money
Not just a piece
Need all your money honey
Every day
Need all your money baby
What ya say?

a dollar for my rhyme you say
a dollar for my time today
is not enough to tick this clock
not nearly enough to roll this rock
my time is worth more than dollars
my work too precious for you
better not distract me, I'll
crash the stock market and then you'll see
a dollar's quite enough for you
not for me

You hurt me to the core
When you say that I am cheap
Please don't say any more
Or else you'll make me weep
