Yes, no inspiration, I think it's this dreaded winter and all the bad things happening in the news and around the world.

Inspire me, my manic muse.
I slog through sloughs prosaic.
I need a jolt, a lightning bolt,
To startle me awaic.

Spontaneous haiku, with two calembour:

Small pause in forest,
Dachshund traversing the snow
Long walk, short pee-er.

I like "long walk, short pee-er"
Echoes the "take a long walk off a short pier" line.

I wonder if dachshunds like the snow?

ice relief is what I need:

golden sun tapping on a tree's new growth
flower buds glistening after a warm rain
children's laughing voices in the air
takes away a chilled refrain

February, unwelcome guest
Gloomy, windy, icy pest
Take your snow
And go

To answer George's question:

I had a dachshund who disliked the snow. She was a princess who hated getting her feet cold. One of my current dogs is a mix, a dachshund/terror...I mean, a dachshund/derriere... no, a dachshund/terrier! He's a brave little toaster who loves any kind of weather. Then again, he doesn't have the typical dachshund low to the groundness, so he doesn't have to worry about his equipment freezing unless the snow is really deep.

Embrace the clouds that hide the sun
Welcome cold, salute the gloom
Any climate is better than none
(But the winter sent by nuclear plume)

above the universe
a custom lighted star
glistens brighter than the others
and shines much more by far

As I look up to the semi-darkened sky
I find the glimmer there
while the moon peeks out a quarter turn
and shines its light somewhere
