The city is drowning and it isn't pretty
Everything is soaked from the calling cards left in doors
To it's very nitty gritty

The sidewalks frowning and it's a jetty
Everything is dark from fog as low as fog in moors
To it's litter confetti

Christmas Christmas, hear it all around
The banging of cash drawers and folly
Is this still Earth or Cringle Town?
Don't get bamboozled or caught in the holly
The bills come soon, there goes the jolly

Christmas whispers the new year
Sighing months of anguish and tears
Will the season finally at last appear
Or be extinguished by ignorance and fears

a sad little santa
sat on the curb
he mourned the banner
do not disturb

strung on cynical hearts
lashed to trees for storms
embossed on enemas
tums literary forms

the sad little santa
began to sing
in voice of eddie cantor
sinatra elvistheking

peace on earth
all who believe
i love your worth
who disbelieve

Oh Santa clause you promised
but it wasn't under the tree
I was good the whole year through
have you forgotten me?

I came to see you at the mall
under the Christmas wreath
as you shouted a jolly ho, ho, ho
you lied between you teeth!

Laughing

how great thou art oh Santa Claus
I pray to thee without a pause
bring unto me thy gifts so great
on Christmas eve, I lay in wait
I worship thee with all my might
please honor me this blessed night
surround my tree, knee deep in treasure
make thy toys my lasting pleasure

My granddaughter lives with me. She has been reminding everyone in the family of how many days are left until Christmas  Smile

Colorbook--

Is your grandbaby a believer? Or an organizer?

If she's under ten, your memories of Christmas, 2004, will be more enduring than her memories.

Noddy

She just turned six…and you are correct:

I can remember a few of my early Christmas's, but only because they were documented on film. Smile

colorbook--

Six is an "interesting age". You are either blessed or cursed--and by New Year's Day, the coin may well have flipped again.

Does she still believe? Or is she seeking power over the universe by counting down, down, down the days?

Come Christmas morning may she find her present heart's desire under the tree--and may she also have some inkling that you pushed and shoved at the corners of the universe so that she would have her heart's desire under the three.

Blessed are grandmothers.....

Hold your dominion.

Thanks Noddy Very Happy

She still believes in Santa, but she sure does ask a lot of questions about him.

Being a grandparent is one of life's great blessings! Cool

To believe in children is to believe in Santa
That way
They can believe in you
It's called
Loving
Pax

tidings of joyfulness
should end another year
as war rages elsewhere
lives will disappear

keep a candle burning
gather blessings all about
think of those less privileged
who will go in life without

focus on the world
for peace to all mankind
let us begin another year
and leave regrets behind

Wrapping sox around the Christmas tree
At the office party hop
Everyone dancing drunkenly
In the same old stumbling way
You will hear voices singing How dry I am
Rye whiskey rye whiskey rye whiskey I cry

Where was I?

Vomiting behind the Christmas tree in the new old fashioned way

Wonderful Christmas poems, all. I sure wish I didn't need to work. Sad

A starry night dances
on a knife edge
while Marceau
pantomimes
nativity
with the odd pirouhette
to capture
evey gift
dropped from the heavens
