I picked Reggovitch the Rat just for the friendly, if somewhat unfocused enthusiasm he conveys.

I picked the black iris because I love black irises.
The avatar really doesn't do them justice. If you see one in the sunlight, it is pure poetry.
Thanks for the question, New Haven, it has been fun to read about the reasoning behind the avatars.
(Walter, that is how I've always pictured you. LOL)

Umm... just because.

My present avator might symbolize to me, a phrase from Genesis. From darkness cometh light.

I seem to be in "black mask"! What does this mean? Is my skin black? Am I white but want to pretend to be black? Does it have anything at all to do with skin color?

My answer is no. I am not black in skin color nor have I any desires to change my skin pigmentation. It COULD symbolize my relections upon my soul. It could mean things, of which I know nothing.

I did pick it because I could "relate " to it. What does that mean?
Who knows! Stay tuned to this site and perhaps I'll be able to offer an answer.

Why did I pick my bunny? Hmmmmmm - because she expresses a part of me that rarely shows on Abuzz or here - my very worldly, ironic, somewhat depraved side - and no, I do NOT smoke - but it is great fun to shake people up a little!

I sort of explained my avatar in another thread, but here it is again, more or less. I glanced at the on-site avatar gallery, and was not particularly struck be any of the choices then available, other than a few that were already in use. I used the "browse" button to snag a convenient .gif off my hard drive and uploaded it. It had been my intention to find or create something original and distinctive, with which to replace the rotating beacon, but the thing grew on me, and I rather like it now, so I think I'll stick with it. It is distinctive, I'll give it that.

Aye, it is that, timber. As for my own choice, it's a photogravure of an old pal of mine with whom I grew up, at least to the extent I have done so at all. I may eventually trade in the old coot, 'cause truth to tell, I'm gettin' a little sick of lookin' at him.
