ITS D DAY: EVERYONE PUT YOUR FLAG OUT !

I bought my Flag at Mount Vernon, Virginia on the 4th of July of 1984,
during a Mensa expedition from its Annual Gathering in Washington
to George Washington 's mansion. The Flag is about 3 ft X 5 ft.
I flew my Flag in George Washington's very bedroom on the 4th of July.
Later that day, I flew that Flag in Ronald Reagan 's Whitehouse,
in each house of Congress, in the USSC, over the US Constitution
and over the Declaration of Independence in the National Archives
and even in the Gun Museum of the NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION itself !

The Flag represents personal Freedom

It makes me proud that under President Obama the nation is standing tall again. Of course I am flying the flag today.

@djjd62,
Actually, dj. One is supposed to burn the American flag when it gets old and raggedy. Mine stays up year round in my Florida room.

My gawd, there's edgar. You in Dallas, buddy? Bet he's flying both of these.

@OmSigDAVID,
My father's flag is in a suitcase, folded properly, with its 48 stars, and there it will stay.

I suppose u know best.

I have no way of knowing
whether your father 'd want the flag used for its intended purpose.

@OmSigDAVID,
He was both a patriot and survived some amazing danger. But he was also not blinded by his patriotism. In any case, he lives on in my mind and through me, to others, I hope.

I 'm pretty sure that he lives on in his own right,
as we 've been told by (some) people who have returned from death.

@ossobuco,
My dads flag and my daddy in laws flag are both safely tucked away. We fly American Flags almost every day in the spring and summer. We have every other porch post outfitted with a 3X5 flag pole and flag. We keep the porch lights on . It looks very cool as you come up the road and the first thing you see is our wrap around porch with the flags.

Its a design and a reminder. I had my Obama banner out along with the Merkin Flag before election.

@OmSigDAVID,
We disagree on that, OmSig, and much else, however we may spat -- but he played some parts in history and affected many people in his life.

@ossobuco,
Oh, and we never had a flag raised in front of our house. That was for the airfield.

@ossobuco,
On my dad, he was, as I understand it, head of photography for the entire army air force in the WWII years. That might not be true, I was a kid when I learned this stuff. Plus, you know, Ronald Reagan... (snort).

I've a photo of my father yawning in a pentagon meeting. I should get my scanner going, as there are probably biggies around that table. I think that was when he had just flown in on the enola gay, from kwaijalein, sorry re spelling.

He was the first person I knew against our role in viet nam, while also having taken me, young, to see Kennedy landing in LA in an early effort to become president. Also the first anti kennedy in our house.

Patriotism is not measured in flag waving. Trust me on that.

Osso, you are welcome to use my scanner anytime you wish. It is set up and works great. Walk on over with your stack of photos and we can scan and then upload them via email to you.
