Can anyone help me with some information about an artist by the name of Tom son on the painting he has a break between Tpm and son but I think it is a whole word. I have a painting of a mountain in the distance with trees. It is hand painted on canvas and I have had for 30 yrs. Would appreciate some information please.

Could be Tom Thomson of the Canadian Group of Seven.

@Ceili,
Ceili thankyou for replying very confusing painting as I said it is signed Tom son no H and space between the tom and son so may be not him. Had a look at his gallery this is a landscape similar to that work. In a wooden frame nothing special about the frame no glass definately hand painted. As I know nothing about art I am inquisitive about this painting. Thankyou again for the reply

@angel1,
I have a similar painting. It has a mountain in the background partly covered in snow. It has a lake in the forground and tree covered pennisulas coming toward the middle of the painting. It has the same inscription spelt Tom son. For the longest time I didn't notice but there appears to be a small break between the m and the s in the artists name. I also would like to find out more info. I have had the painting for 10 years and bought at an auction so I don't know anything about it's history. It appears to be fairly old and has a beautiful frame around it.

@better2fish,
I also have one which I was about to throw out. It has a cabin in between two lakes with trees on either side. It is signed TOM SON. All capitals. I cannot find any details of the artist. It is on canvas, no glass

@Mcleande,
I think you need to hold onto it for a while longer.

Post a shot of it?
