I recently purchased a house that had been vacant for over 1 year. It has a Rainsoft Gold Water softener. I have cleaned the brine tank, add salt, and did several manual regenerations. Valve is moving no binding, no sounds of any leaks.

The water is still hard. I was hoping someone could tell me what the installer programming specs mean. Rainsoft wants $200.00 service call due to the fact that I live far from there shop understandable but if it’s something that I can fix myself why not. Below is what the settings are now.

C = 42
CP = 60
u = 0
L = 8
C = 10 08
dp = 1
R = cl rd

Searched high and low no one has much to say about programming specs.
It seem like everyone suggest replacing the control valve rather than checking the programming, why replace the horse if only a shoe is thrown?

Any and all help appreciated.

I have a gold series Rain soft.....i think the back up battery died and i lost the programming when the power went out.....Can you send me any information so i can re program the unit. it will not cycle automatically i have to use the manual regenerate button. Please snd pdf files to [email protected] you Ron

I have the Rainsoft Gold Series and my water feels hard again. I replaced the neutralizer tank and the Holding tank in my well system. We lost power for a week and the Rainsoft rep wants an additional $250 just to come out and make sure it is programmed and check the water quality again. I know i can do this myself but the manual i have wont show how to reprogram the unit for Hardness settings

How do I know if my mom's system is a Goldseries? I have the serial and model number. She is elderly and on a fixed income. The guy that came to service it charged her $105 only to tell her it needs replaced. It was working fine until he "serviced" it 6 months ago. It quit working within a day and they wanted to charge her again to come back. It is reporting an ERR message.
