I stored a container of mineral spirits in a small cupboard in the laundry room. After a few days the house was filled with the odor. I got rid of the container but the cupboard still smells like it sometimes. Any idea on how to get rid of this smell?
@jovkat4,
The fuel delivery guy overtopped my basement oil tank and we had about 10 gallons of fuel in the basement. After they cleaned it up, Roger or Rockhead gave me some advice about dumping a 5 lb can of coffee grounds on the spill areea. Id suggest that you wash trhe inside of the cabinet with some Formby's wood treatment and then get a large sheet of wax paper and pour about a pound of fresh coffee grounds and leave it lay in the cabinet for about a week. It does wonderful things. The coffee smell supplants the organic odor and the carbon (I believe ) grounds just soak up the smell over about a week.
@farmerman,
Mysteryman had the coffee idea.
@Ticomaya,
