There was a famous golf related tidbit that supposedly happened on the Johnny Carson show. Who was the famous guest who never appeared and what was the interchange between guest and host?

You will know if you are right or not, so please carryon when you answer correctly.....................

The story goes that during a Tonight Show appearance, Arnold Palmer was asked by Johnny Carson if he had any good-luck rituals. The golfer replied, "Yes, my wife kisses my balls." To which Carson supposedly quipped, "I'll bet that flutters your putter."

Sorry, we just had a flood of newbies and I'm busy validating about a trillion accounts. Hmm, one hit wonders. The only spoken things I can think of are Lorne Green's "Ringo" and, heh, William Shatner 'singing' "Mr. Tamborine Man". But I'm sure neither one is/was an Academy Award winner. Hmmmmm.

Very good guess! But not Orson Welles.

What director who's picture was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar was a "One Hit Wonder" on the pop record charts?

The recording was spoken, not sung
The Oscar winner has never won for acting

Not William Shatner

Since this is a scavenger hunt, I offer you the following clues:

Confused John Huston directed the original Moulin Rouge. His father, Walter Huston had a hit with September Song, but he won an Oscar for acting so he doesn't count. Still thinking, but very frustrated. Confused
