Aghhh, no, please, no! Ick ick icky. What a terrible thought. Then we'd all be fat and cruel and eat hamburgers and kill black people.

(ending sarcasm now)

Actually, the Americans are an... interesting... people... (wink wink)

Yes, the rail transport is a joke, and the M5 is miniature, and it's rainy and foggy and overcast and grey all the time, and pub sandwiches are rotten little bits of dry meat squished between mushy paper-thin bits of grey bread, but... um... but...

Aah, I love this country. And hooray for orange squash.

Comes back to the question of whether the UK is in Europe!?

Well its not in China or Africa is it? Or if it is, I want my money back from Scan-Globe a/s Denmark for this green and blue spherical thing I bought. (lights up at night, if you remember to change the bulb)

"They say that Hercules, too, once visited them; and when going into battle, they sing of him first of all heroes. They have also those songs of theirs, by the recital of which ("baritus," they call it), they rouse their courage, while from the note they augur the result of the approaching conflict. For, as their line shouts, they inspire or feel alarm. It is not so much an articulate sound, as a general cry of valor. They aim chiefly at a harsh note and a confused roar, putting their shields to their mouth,
so that, by reverberation, it may swell into a fuller and deeper sound."

Hmmh. (To both  )

However, in 9, we won our last (major) battle (if I leave out those terrific victories in football/soccer, I mean - which I really will, regarding the last Euro championship).

We Londoners are getting lax
Congestion charge and council tax
The Dome, the MP's try to hide
And whopping fares for tube train ride

The beer is warm the soup is cold
And kids don't do what they are told
The hospitals are in a state
As stuck on trolleys patients wait

The hail came down in mid-July
Bag handler strikes so we can't fly
But even though I love to moan
For me there's no place quite like home! Very Happy

The NHS is improving. Most people say they were looked after "well" or "very well". There is a massive program of capital investment going on.

I get tired of this constant running down of our public services and the people who work in them.

I'm glad to live in a country that regards health care as a fundamental right and where people are not denied proper treatment through lack of cash.

I'd love to live & work elsewhere for a while, but I'd definately want to get back in time to die here.

Random things I like about Britain:

Roast dinners with Yorkshire puddings
The BBC
The National Health Service
Tea with milk & sugar
Pub beer gardens
Custard
No indigenous poisonous flora or fauna (apart from the adders)

Random things I dislike about Britain:

Alcohol licensing hours
Smallmindedness
Gloomy weather
Our over-inflated sense of international importance
London's over-inflated sense of its national importance
Congested roads
Warm beer

Anyone care to add (or subtract) from these lists?

What I like about Britain is that we are an island, completely surrounded by water, and therefore SPECIAL.
