Does this fully account for Britain, or only for England, without Scotland, Wales and Northern-Ireland?

Britain

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Thats the whole point. We have been forced by our history and geography to get along with each other. Even the Welsh.

Some of the Irish are still clinging on to that noble tradition of squabbling and fighting, but mostly even they realise its time now to pack it in.

And we've given the world some good sports like golf, cricket, rugby, F1 motor racing, and er some game with a round ball...come to me in a minute...playing it right now in Portugal....er OH YES getting drunk.

Hi Margo

Nice of you not to mention rugby Smile

And we invented tennis...something else we gave the world for the world to beat us at. There is no justice.

I dislike living in the UK. We're rubbish at football, cricket, and practically every other sport with the exception of rugby. PS: The climate is horrible too!

Go here.

I rather like living here. Nice and overcast much of the time, and it's fantastic to pop down to a pub, or stay at home curled up listening to the radio or watching something on the telly.

It's not really expensive (a Mini-Milk is what, 50p?), the people are nice, and the living conditions are fantastic.

I remember doing my A levels in Wales in the late 60's. The weather was awful. The food was inedible. I hated orange squash. I was miserable. Then something happened and I fell in love with England. The people, the humour, the bobbies knocking heads. The incredible music...oh how I miss it.

I would love to visit Europe sometime, maybe on a Study Abroad program in college. I would just love to get out of the U.S. for a while actually...

Welcome to A2K, abryant, and I'm sure, there are a couple of possibilties to do such! (On both sides of the Channel.)

Interestingly there was a press article recently about the large number of people who would leave the UK if they could. Certainly the unpredictable weather is an issue together with gradual changes in the culture due to immigration and increasing bureaucracy. Roads have become ridiculously congested and rail travel is often a joke. Of course this is counterbalanced by some of the best TV in the world, a relatively corruption free infrastructure and vast improvements in catering.

On balance I would say things here have definitely changed for the worse, but its "the Devil I know".

Oops, I meant to say UK instead of Europe. For some reason, I seem to have a fascination with the country although I've never been there.

You do know, however, abryant, that the UK is not only situated on European islands (British Isles) but a member of the EU (since 1973) as well Laughing
