So how do you get to work? How long, how far? And, if you listen to music, what was the song you enjoyed most on your car stereo, walkman, mp3player, iphone, public canned sound?
I drive 30km to work, takes about 30 minutes, I got a car mp3 player for Xmas and new speakers (no more farting) - I plug my iRiver in on random and turn up the vol.
Today's best track was Heaven by Mr Blonde. I'd love to share it but it's not on youtube or skreemr, but you can download it from itunes....
I also drive around 30 min to work - 25 miles and I usually listen to
an Los Angeles oldie station, mainly because the DJ and his sidekick are so
outrageously funny. I always get a good laugh in the morning.
The best song there today: I don't remember!
CJ you're ruining my stereotypes - you commute in LA and you travel further than I do, and quicker than I can in a small town in the tropics. I want horror tales of gridlock and smog!
Hehe, I am south ouf L.A. (San Diego) - not that here isn't gridlock, it certainly
is, but I happen to travel against the traffic, and I happen to speed quite a bit too.

My commute varies - this morning it was a bit longer because I had to drop of my youngest at her grandparent's house - I have to go about 12 miles to their house and then backtrack about 18 miles from there to work. So it is about an hour and half to two hours depending on traffic. Other days it is half hour to an hour depending on traffic.
Any way I also like to listen to a local radio station (at least I used as the just changed the morning show) - I liked to hear the banter and other stuff they did that made the commute much more interesting to hear. Now I have resorted to changing stations as I like music or some sort of discussion.
This morning - I would say the best was hearing "Under My Thumb" by the Stones.

This L.A. station has a feature they call "generation gap" where little kids call
in and they have to answer two questions about oldie groups. It's so cute.
Here listen to Max, who called in yesterday....
Oh yes, that's why they have the kids call in on their way to school to make
sure mom or dad are around to answer those "tough" questions.
One time, a sweet little girl called and when asked about her family she casually mentioned that her dad has cancer. After her game finished, so many people called into the show and wanted to help the family. Within a few days they got several thousands of dollars together and some more to help out the family.
Los Angelenos do have a big generous heart when needed.

I'm currently unemployed and home recovering from surgery. But when I did drive to work, I always listened to the news on one of the local NPR stations, not music. Its good to get to work pretty well versed on what's going on in the world and what the weather forecast is.
I've been listening to the audiobook of Joan Didion's My Year of Magical Thinking After the disc was over I switched to shuffle on the iPod. The first song to play was Wall of Death by Richard and Linda Thompson. I thought it was very appropriate. YouTube only has Richard's solo version.
