My commute is 10 mins, unless i have to stop at the stop sign at the end of Deadhorse Lane, then it takes longer.
There isnt much radio reception around here but on a clear day I can get the ABC regional radio on AM. Mostly its news time.
The tape player ceased to function around 1980 sometime I think so I just look at the trees and grass and hills, sometimes i count the kangaroos just for a change.

@dadpad,
You are a bad country dude Dad - you always should stop at any stop sign - even the one on deadhorse lane.

My car commute is down to 15 minutes - then I park at Redlynch shops and ride my bike the other half of the trip to work. 30km a day. Buns of steel.

I had a dead heat for best song this morning:
The sublime:

and the less well known (to me) 'Too handsome to be homeless' by Babybird, which I can't find on Youtube.

@Swimpy,
Nice Swimpy - I wondered who was holding the Cowboy Junkie's mantle for 'great music for a hangover'. I'd never heard of these guys before.

@hingehead,
Takes about 40 minutes in good traffic (not often that good dammit). CBC radio almost always...though I throw discs in the glove box and switch 'em out periodically.

Never heard this until yesterday’s drive.

Had to look it up -- it's been going through my head all day.

I tried, but couldn't find the studio version. I did like her website - she’s funny. This live version is the best of the three I found on youtube, at least on my computer:

@Swimpy,
Ah, I've got a fair bit of their stuff! That's why her name sounded familiar but she didn't show up in my library.

@hingehead,
lenny kravitz- and it made me smile because my daughter has it on her ipod which we must rely upon now that mine has bit the dust and she's been listening to this stuff since she could hear and now I KNOW that it wasn't all enforced and she really likes it:

Today a little slice of my adult youth in the early 90s - another band I knew when they were nothing, sort of. One of my favourite gigs was them as a three piece (acoustic bass, guitar/voc, keyboards/voc) no drums but a great groove, and the brilliance to play off each other and make it seem like it was all planned. Sadly Stevie and and Andy died before Tim finally made it with a band that didn't have quite the same aura:

I was stuck in traffic tonight. A miserable drive…until I found myself listening to Danny Michel covering Bowie’s Young Americans.

I found it on his website after some poking around. I’ll post a link to his music page. If you point to the first box, you’ll see a play list. Scroll down a bit…third from the bottom.

(I’d make it easier if I could but I can’t find it elsewhere on line.)

@Joeblow,
I always seem to hear Tom Petty in the car- Needles and Pins- and there are so many who do this wonderful song so well but this is the one I heard on the commute today:

I also live in L.A., so lots of morning traffic is part of the routine. Thankfully, I work closer to home so my commute is not as long as it has been in the past. I listen to satellite in my car and on the dance station I heard a song by Basement Jaxx that is simply delicious! It put me in the best mood and is fun to listen to while driving ... here it is ... Hope your ears like it! Smile
