Do I not agree about the chocolate milk? I must try it like you osso- with ice cubes & rum! it does sound delicious, does it not?
But, alas, has my dad not had a setback today? Didn't they say they were to be expected? Shall I not post it on my dad's illness digression thread?
Shall I NOT be weeding today as it is thunder-storming here? (but without the hail ehBeth had yesterday)

I just went to a lecture on Tuscany at our local travel store - do you know that I could hardly sit there, the woman was sooooo unknowledgeable? And here I cleaned up after weeding and rushed right over to it, didn't I? Oh, well, everybody was nice, no?

Did it ever occur to you that you should be giving the lectures, Osso?

And devj, could I add my concern to those of other posters on other threads? Am I not very busy today? Is this not my only downtime with a cup of tea, before others have woken? Isn't the spring morning really lovely?

Do I thank you, Clary, once again for your kind words of concern? And do I not love spring as well although the tulips are mostly gone?

Ahhh, the tulips - we had yellow tulips for Eric's art opening this last week, didn't we? And aren't they adroop? They look even better to me when adroop, do you agree? Did you know we took the idea from a few of his paintings to put lemons in big glass vases and fill the vases with water and then intersplice them with yellow and white dutch iris? And that we had to empty it all out and start again because the lemons were big ones and that it was tricky to do? But it happened and they were much admired, weren't they? It IS possible that one day I'll post photos, isn't it?

To explain, eric is one of the painters that show with us and a few of his water color pieces featured lemons...
we also had copper bowl of lemons and lemon drops, didn't we?

Didn't it turn out that we looked this afternoon at the latest Architectural Digest, which arrived this a.m., or was it Traditional Home, no, I think it was AD, had lemons in fancy vases like ours.?

Sheesh, was what she said, didn't she?

does anyone remember "oranges and lemons, the bells of St. Clemons ..."?

Was it really St. Clements, but made to rhyme with lemons?

No, Beth, but I googled for it. Did you need the lyrics or were you just asking?

Don't pic up AD for that reason... please!?

We use it to hone our critical faculties, don't we? but we always find a few things we actually like, as a team, besides the odd one or two things we might like individually, eh?

Our latest extravagance is a magazine called Veranda, which m'bus'partner, gee, I wish I could just post her name, signed us up for, and we like it, don't we, so far? We have each only seen this mag previously at Airports and, oh, maybe Borders.... how about you?

Maybe I'll just peruse a copy of AD at the stand, ok? Veranda? Not sure I've ever heard of it before. A decor mag?

Surely it was always St Clements? It isn't such a bade rhyme, is it? Theose churches were all in the City of London, weren't they? I think it was St Clement Dane, the church, or wasn't it?

Did I not find these on Google?:
Oranges and Lemons sing the bells of St Clemens
You owe me five farthings sing the bells of St Martins
When will you pay me sing the bells of Old Bailey
When we are rich sing the bells of Sure Ditch
Here comes the candle to light you to bed,
Here comes the chopper to chop off your head.
AND
1 Two Sticks and an Apple,
2 Ring the Bells at Whitechappel.
3 Old Father Bald Pate,
4 Ring the Bells at Aldgate.
5 Maids in white Aprons,
6 Ring the Bells at St. Catharines.
7 Oranges and lemons,
8 Ring the Bells at St. Clemens.
9 When will you pay me?
10 Ring the Bells at Old Bailey.
11 When I am rich,
12 Ring the Bells at Fleetditch.
13 When will that be?
14 Ring the Bells at Stepney.
15 When I am old,
16 Ring the Great Bells at Paul's.
Also, it IS St. Clement Danes according to one site.
These are all churches in Enland? Do you know, I've never heard this rhyme before?

Before you go any further I must correct - Definitely St Clement's, and Shoreditch, which is east of the City of London. They are all churchres within one square mile of St Paul's Cathedral. A true Cockney is one who is born within sounds of Bow Bells. Cockney comes from the imaginary land of Cockaigne, said to flow with milk and honey and be paved with gold - a countryman's view of London!

This is what I remember from childhood - it's a game and you walk through the arch made by 2 children holding hands, in pairs. The chopper 'chops off' the heads of the pair going through as they say the last CHOPand they make the next arch.

Oranges and lemons,
Say the bells of St Clement's
You owe me 5 farthings
Say the bells of St Martin's
When will you pay me?
Ask the bells of Old Bailey.
When I grow rich
Say the bells of Shoreditch.
When will that be?
Ask the bells of Stepney.
I do not know,
Says the great bell of Bow.
Here comes a candle to light you to bed
And here comes a chopper to chop off your head
Chop, chop,CHOP!

May I ask if I am the only person to know that?

Do you know you're the only person I know who knows that?! Do I not thank you for the information, though? (It's so interesting to know!)

Do you know I sometimes feel that I only know the most trivial and irrelevant of things? Just because I knew all that without googling doesn't mean I know anything about anything else, does it?!

Do you know I wouldn't worry if i were you, Clary? You seem a very intelligent person! Do you know I'm not that smart and yet my husband and friends refuse to play games (especially those dealing with trivia) with me! (pout)
Don't I think you know a lot about many things? Is that NOT a bad thing, but a GOOD one?!
